Northrop Grumman's Defense Systems (NGDS) sector is looking for a Mgr. Software Engineering 2 to lead a team of talented software engineers and ensure quality engineering support to programs, IRADs and new business pursuits in the Mission Planning and Decision Support (MPDS) Operating Unit. The location of this position is Beavercreek, OH. The Software Engineering Manager will be working alongside fellow software engineering professionals as we continue to develop and improve the software products for our customers. The position supports the engineering organization goals for providing people, processes and tools to meet the current and future needs of the programs and technologies within the sector portfolio. This role will help foster the establishment and maintenance of a world class Software and Digital Technologies organization.
The selected candidate will provide functional leadership to the team in a strong engineering organization, collaborating with peers across multiple organizations. The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate strong leadership skills to achieve sustainable top performance. The candidate will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This candidate will demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business. Demonstrated abilities to build diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and coaching, are a must.
The selected candidate will also actively participate in engineering activities related to our Intelligence, Systems, Infrastructure, Tools & Enhancements (InSITE) Program as well as other relevant Northrop Grumman Defense Systems programs. The candidate will have a track record as an effective team member with excellent engineering skills. The candidate will also perform Cost Account Management, be responsible for creating Monthly Status Reports, and will represent Northrop Grumman at Program Management Reviews.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor degree with 10+ years of relevant experience in engineering development projects
* An active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (SCI) clearance
* Experience in managing or coordinating the implementation and delivery of sophisticated software systems in support of Government customers
* Previous experience in people and / or technical leadership roles
* Experience developing cost estimates for government customers
* Proposal development experience
* Experience working on Agile teams
* Must be an existing Northrop Grumman employee with technical program tasking or must qualify for a currently-open technical position within Northrop Grumman in Beavercreek, OH.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with subcontractors
* Experience with Cost Account Management
* Knowledge of NASIC contracting process and procedures
* Program Management experience working with National Air Space Intelligence Center (NASIC), National Space Intelligence Center (NSIC), Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), Air Combat Command (ACC) or Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA).
* Business development experience
* Experience leading a team in the Engineering department of a matrix-like organization
* Experience leading engineering teams using Agile processes and continuous integration / continuous deployment processes and tools
Salary Range: *$142,200 - $213,400
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
