The Charlotte facility has been operating for over 40 years in the laser industry and has developed the reputation of providing the highest quality products with timely deliveries. Within the facility, solid-state oxide and fluoride crystals are grown from a high-temperature melt.
SYNOPTICS has full optical fabrication capabilities for various plano and spherical geometries. SYNOPTICS serves the photonics and optics industry across the globe.
This position will sit onsite at our Charlotte, NC facility.
Major Responsibilities:
Perform preventative maintenance, such as lubricating, changing belts and filters on mechanical equipment such as fans, pumps, and motors
* Perform troubleshooting and repairs on machinery and equipment
* Maintain piping systems throughout the facility, copper, black iron, and PVC
* Work independently or with fellow technicians to identify system issues and their root causes; suggest areas for improvement
* Support engineers with new designs and installations of product support equipment, machinery, and systems
* Conduct routine or special inspections to determine maintenance requirements and prevent breakdowns of facility equipment and unique machinery
* Install and maintain variety of metal or nonmetal pipes and pipe fittings, using threaded, soldering, brazing, or cemented joints, and hand tools
* Read and interpret prints, diagrams, specifications, manufacturer manuals, and drawings
Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma plus a minimum of 3 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment is required
* Competent in the use of hand and power tools
* Strong understanding of mechanical principles, including gears, bearings, alignment, hydraulics, and pneumatics
* Ability to work from a ladder and in elevated work areas\
* Ability to repeatably lift 45 pounds throughout a work shift
* Working knowledge of facility equipment such as cooling towers, chillers, air handlers and electrical systems is a plus
* Experience in servicing and maintaining HVAC equipment is a plus
* Basic electrical skills including motor control, electrical distribution, and machinery installation is a plus
Preferred Qualifications:
Two-year technical degree is preferred
Salary Range: *$47,600 - $79,400
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
