We are looking for you to join our team as an HPC Systems Administrator based out of Annapolis Junction or Linthicum, MD. The Northrop Grumman Microelectronics Design and Applications (MDA) Business Area's (BA) Research Computing (RC) organization seeks high-performance computing (HPC) professionals to support its growing teams of scientists and engineers. The MDA RC organization is responsible for the design, development, deployment, security, operation, monitoring, management, and support of all computational hardware and software used for basic research, modeling and simulation, circuit design, and circuit testing. RC oversees multiple highly complex large compute clusters that are required in the daily work of users of diverse backgrounds, roles, and responsibilities. RC is searching for HPC operations, administration, and applications experts excited to learn new technologies and contribute to a highly dynamic organization.
Responsibilities
Support operation of a high-performance compute cluster
* Investigate, diagnose, and resolve acute system faults
* Maintain software deployments
* Maintain security compliance
* Monitor and maintain hardware
* Interface with user support staff
Position can be worked out of Annapolis Junction or Linthicum sites
Position can be filled as a HPC System Administrator or Principal HPC System Administrator
Basic Qualifications for a HPC System Administrator
Bachelors degree with 2 years' relevant experience; 0 years' experience with a Master's Degree. Will consider 4 years additional experience in lieu of degree.
* Linux systems administration proficiency
* Basic knowledge and experience with networking concepts
* Basic knowledge and experience with file systems
* Basic knowledge and experience with user management
* Basic knowledge and experience with system security
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain/maintain a TS/SCI clearance with full scope poly
Basic Qualifications for a Principal HPC System Administrator
Bachelors degree with 5 years' relevant experience; 3 years' experience with a Master's Degree; 1 year with PhD. Will consider 4 years additional experience in lieu of degree.
* Linux systems administration proficiency
* Basic knowledge and experience with networking concepts
* Basic knowledge and experience with file systems
* Basic knowledge and experience with user management
* Basic knowledge and experience with system security
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain/maintain a TS/SCI clearance with full scope poly
Preferred qualifications
Active TS/SCI with full-scope polygraph security clearance
* IAT Level II certification
* Red Hat Linux systems administration experience
* Knowledge and experience with concepts of high-performance computing system operations, including cluster management, multi-user login environments, job scheduling, and networked file systems
* Knowledge and experience maintaining compliance with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
* Knowledge and experience with compiling software
* Knowledge and experience monitoring and maintaining high-performance compute cluster hardware
* Experience with MPI, high-speed low-latency network fabrics, parallel file systems, and/or GPUs
* Exhibited ability to contribute to a team of technical professionals
Salary Range: $81,300 - $121,900
Salary Range 2: *$100,300 - $150,500
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
