The Threat Modeling Center (TMC) is responsible for the development and delivery of high-fidelity threat modeling products in support of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and MDA's Missile Defense System (MDS). TMC is responsible for the development of models and simulations (M&S) used to stimulate element models of MDA's MDS, including kinematic missile modeling, Infrared Radiation (IR) and radar signature modeling, data production/analysis activities, and maintenance/sustainment activities for the entire TMC software baseline. TMC is a cornerstone element to the Specialized Warfighter Development Contract (SWDC), as part of the MDA Engineering Directorate (DE) Task Order.

This position requires a detail-oriented mid-level engineer responsible for developing high fidelity threat missile signature data packages for use in a variety of modeling and simulation tools and media. Must have a good understanding of modeling and simulation methods and processes. Must be able to apply standard engineering and mathematical algorithms to ensure the accurate portrayal of expected phenomenology characteristics during the flight of a missile. The selected individual must be able to work with little or no direct supervision, work as an integral member of a product delivery team and meet time critical delivery schedules.
Job responsibilities will include, but not limited to the following:
As part of a team, produce threat IR signature data in support of MDA Ground Test Modeling and Simulation. Understand stakeholder requirements and ensure the quality production of threat missile data, including customer support for released data packages. Research threat phenomenology with a focus on hardbody IR signatures to apply and adjust threat IR signature models simulation according to event needs. Maintain, modify, and improve scripts and software used to manage events and run simulations, including collaborating with software and systems engineers to define requirements for and test software tools, and independently develop supporting scripts to automate data management, simulation, and quality control.
The job location is at Schriever SFB, CO. There will be no remote work opportunities available.
Minimum Requirements - Level 2:

Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline and 2 years related experience; 0 Years with Masters
* Must be self-motivated, able to work in a dynamic team environment
* Practical experience with modeling, simulation, and automation
* Strong math, physics, and software background
* Experience with scripting/automation languages such as Python, C++, Bash, and/or MATLAB
* Good oral and written communication skills
* Excellent time management and attention to detail
* Able to produce reliable products and documentation within established deadlines
* Active DoD Secret security clearance, with ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI
Minimum Requirements - Level 3:

Bachelor's degree in in a STEM discipline: and 5 years related experience; 3 Years with Masters, 1 Year with PhD
* Must be able to be independent, self-motivated and self-led, able to work in a dynamic team environment, and be able to produce reliable products and documentation within established deadlines
* Experience with IR signature modeling, simulation, and/or analysis
* Experience with Verification and Validation of modeling and simulation data
* Knowledge of the missile flight characteristics and threat types
* Experience with customer interaction and stakeholder support in a defense contract context
* Active DoD Secret security clearance, with ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI
* Strong math, physics, and software background
* Knowledge of atmospheric dynamics, aerodynamic heating, and IR emission
* Experience with scripting/automation languages such as Python, C++, Bash, and/or MATLAB
* Good oral and written communication skills
* Excellent time management and attention to detail
* Able to produce reliable products and documentation within established deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:

Active Top Secret/SCI Clearance
* Experience with IR Sensors and processing related data files
* Knowledge of detailed concept of operations for diverse threat missile systems
* Familiarity with MDS architecture and mission profile
* Knowledge thermal, IR emission, and optical properties of materials
* Experience with use of Optical Signatures Code and/or Optical Signature In-line Generator
* Experience in Agile software development methodologies
* Significant automation script development experience in Python
* Knowledge of software architecture principles, data structures, database design, and/or parallel computing
* Familiarity with application of Artificial Intelligence tools for modeling and simulation of physical systems

Salary Range: $81,300 - $121,900
Salary Range 2: *$100,300 - $150,500
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
