Position Summary:
Interprets, recommends, and complies with environmental regulations and/or company policies.
Assists in planning and design for facility infrastructure projects to ensure compliance with all applicable environmental requirements.
Writes and updates environmental manuals and procedures.
Prepares and submits permit applications, permit modifications, and permit renewals.
Interacts with regulators from applicable federal and state agencies.
Specific duties and responsibilities:
Duties and responsibilities will focus primarily on, but not be limited to, compliance with select requirements of the Clean Air Act (CAA) and the facility's Title V Operating Permit, the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to Know Act (EPCRA), the Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA) with support of other regulatory programs (e.g., RCRA, CWA, and SDWA) as necessary.
This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.
Job Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications Level 2:
Bachelors degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline and 2 years experience; Or Masters Degree with 0+ years of experience in Environmental Engineering/Compliance.
U.S. Citizenship; must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Mid-level or higher proficiency using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and multi-task with strong facilitation skills.
Basic Qualifications Level 3:
Bachelors degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline and 5 years experience, Or Masters Degree with 3+ years of experience in Environmental Engineering/Compliance.
U.S. Citizenship; must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Mid-level or higher proficiency using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and multi-task with strong facilitation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
BS or MS in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related degree.
Strong understanding and working knowledge of the following:
Clean Air Act (CAA) regulations and compliance requirements [Experience with 1) Title V Operating Permits and 2) Combustion Source permitting, recordkeeping and reporting a plus.]
Resource, Conservation, and Recovery Act (RCRA) regulations and compliance requirements as they apply a Large Quantity Generator (LQG) and permitted Treatment, Storage, and Disposal Facility (TSDF) [Experience with RCRA Corrective Action a plus.]
Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA) regulations and compliance requirements
Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) regulations and compliance requirements

Rocket Center, WV is located along the North Branch Potomac River in Mineral County, West Virginia and is home to the Allegany Ballistics Laboratory (ABL), a government installation operated by Northrop Grumman. This position falls under a Federal Explosives License issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for this location. Candidates hired into this role will be required to complete and submit an Employee Possessor Questionnaire to ATF for approval to be a possessor.
Salary Range: $70,200 - $105,400
Salary Range 2: *$86,600 - $130,000
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
