Northrop Grumman's Defense Systems sector is need of an Engineer Systems Architect (Level 3/4) to support the Propulsion Systems & Controls (PS&C) operating unit. This role would require the candidate to support the PS&C business from Elkton, MD or Palm Beach Gardens, FL (Strongly Preferred Locations) or may consider any US Northrop Grumman facility. (Cont*ingent Upon Award).
Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) facility in Elkton, Maryland began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers. The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY and Palm Beach Gardens, FL.
Elkton, Maryland is located on the Upper Chesapeake Bay, midway between Philadelphia and Baltimore. Discover charming small towns, parks with miles of trails, specialty and antique shops, award winning restaurants, and inns. You can hike, bike, camp, bird watch, ride horseback, or drop a fishing line. Five rivers, Chesapeake Bay and the C&D Canal can be explored by boat or by land. Experience panoramic views from Turkey Point Lighthouse on a bluff overlooking the Bay, or from the banks of the C&D Canal where ships from around the globe cruise.
Roles and Responsibilities:

Employ MBSE approaches to developing products using the Systems Modeling Language (SysML), and MBSE resources to capture, maintain, and visualize a product solution within an integrated system model. Used to communicate the design and facilitate automation of integration with other domains

* Serve as a primary advocate for MBSE application on multiple programs

* Develop, optimize & demonstrate best practices with modern MBSE processes & standards for incorporation into our programs and site processes

* Perform technical planning, system design development, verification and validation, cost and risk, and requirements management for our systems

* Perform functional analysis, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into a workable performance specification

* Create and manage System Architecture under self-direction using CAMEO

* Collaborate with Program Managers and Chief Engineers to define SE WBS and develop a schedule of deliverables for Systems Engineering. Work with team to shape MBSE deliverables to the need of contract

* Work with other lead Systems Engineers to enable them to implement MBSE on their program

* Provide mentorship to Junior Engineers about the Systems Engineering Domain

* Prepare, present, and lead discussion of system engineering materials during System Requirement Review, System Functional Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review and System Verification Review and other formal program reviews

* Lead development of Systems Engineering activities as required by the program SOW, working closely with Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Testing, Analysis, and Program Management

This requisition may be filled at either a level 3 or a level 4 as outlined in the basic qualifications below and is contingent upon program award.
Basic Qualifications Principal Engineer Systems Architect - Level 3:

For Principal Systems Engineer: Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree in STEM discipline from an accredited university and 3 years of relevant experience or 1 years with a PHD STEM

* Systems Engineering lifecycle experience. Primarily from Proposal/SRR through a Critical Design Review or similar type of milestone

* Experience developing and reviewing requirements and conducting requirements management.

* Experience with CAMEO MBSE execution and managing model content

* Ability to work freely and independently within a CAMEO environment

* Ability to direct others to work within CAMEO environment

* Experienced, skilled, and disciplined in system engineering processes (requirements analysis and definition, Physical and Functional Architecture Definitions, Technical planning)

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong social skills, and ability to build consensus among peers while building solid relationships with team members

* Must be a US citizen and able to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance

Basic Qualifications Sr Principal Engineer Systems Architect - Level 4:

For Principal Systems Engineer: Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree in STEM discipline from an accredited university and 6 years of relevant experience or 4 years with a PHD STEM

* Systems Engineering lifecycle experience. Primarily from Proposal/SRR through a Critical Design Review or similar type of milestone

* Experience developing and reviewing requirements and conducting requirements management.

* Experience with CAMEO MBSE execution and managing model content

* Ability to work freely and independently within a CAMEO environment

* Ability to direct others to work within CAMEO environment

* Experienced, skilled, and disciplined in system engineering processes (requirements analysis and definition, Physical and Functional Architecture Definitions, Technical planning)

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong social skills, and ability to build consensus among peers while building solid relationships with team members

* Must be a US citizen and able to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

Able to work at Elkton, MD or Palm Beach Gardens, FL locations

* Experience with Cameo Enterprise Architecture modeling for system design

* Experience in integrating complex system across multiple domains

* Experience demonstrating concepts to management and customers

* Active Secret DoD clearance, US Citizenship required

* Experience in Requirement and Verification methods within a Digital Engineering Environment.

* Experience with coordinating Systems Milestones reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR)

* Demonstrated behaviors of a systems thinker; selects and applies appropriate systems thinking skills to solve very complex problems and implement constructive change

* Experience with analysis/simulation development and integration

* Experience with test planning and execution

* Experience with requirements management using DOORS

Salary Range: *$97,500 - $190,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
