One of our most challenging new fields is Microelectronics Design and Applications (MDA), which combines the unique properties of superconductivity and quantum mechanics to develop radical new energy-efficient computing systems. MDA is seeking a Associate Lab Engineer / Lab Engineer with demonstrated ability to support our innovative MDA team in support of emerging supercomputing technologies.
What You'll Get to Do:
Support test operations and test development activities for multiple superconducting electronics development laboratories.
* Responsible for coordination and control of program assets and maintenance, to include: calibration activities, consumables, and general upkeep of cryogenic test systems.
* Candidate will be point of contact for all manner of installations, repairs and deliveries of test equipment and test systems.
This position will serve on-site at our Advanced Technologies Laboratory located in Linthicum, MD.
This position can be filled at the Associate Lab Engineer or Lab Engineer level. Qualifications for each level below.
Basic Qualifications for Associate Lab Engineer:
Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 6 months of relevant experience, or a Master's Degree in STEM, or a PhD in STEM.
* Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
* Experience supporting electrical test or research lab activities.
* Ability to communicate effectively to team members both verbally and in writing.
* Familiarity in leading small teams.
* This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen and the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with poly clearance per business requirements
Basic Qualifications for Lab Engineer:
Bachelor's degree in a STEM with 2 years of relevant experience, a Master's Degree in STEM, or a PhD in STEM .

* This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen and the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with poly clearance per business requirements
Preferred Qualificationsfor Associate Lab Engineer / Lab Engineer:
Experience in electronic testing equipment and associated test platforms.
* Familiarity working with cryogens, Liquid Helium and Nitrogen.
* Working knowledge of Matlab.
* Ability to adjust to changing priorities and requirements.
* Active TS/SCI with poly clearance per business requirements
Salary Range: $68,800 - $103,200
Salary Range 2: *$83,300 - $124,900
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
