Position Summary: This position reports to the Engineering Manager, Production Engineering and is focused on development, maintenance and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, systems test equipment and automation equipment which support the manufacturing and testing of PGK electro-mechanical fuze assemblies. Role Responsibilities:
Develop manufacturing processes and documentation that ensures hardware and test articles meet engineering and configuration requirements.
Coordinate builds of electro-mechanical assemblies to support programs that are in engineering and manufacturing development as well as production.
Contribute to completion of specific program and project milestones.
Interface with design engineering to create products that are optimized for assembly.
Partner with STE (Systems Test Engineering) team and product design engineering to develop product test requirements and STE test equipment specifications which provide for robust testing and validation of product functionality within a production environment.
Develop required preventative maintenance specifications, process documentation and schedules for production level STE and automation equipment.
Perform all maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting and hardware / software upgrades for STE & automation equipment.
Utilize LabVIEW or similar systems to develop or update automation and STE software as needed.
Maintain a level of training and skillsets regarding the latest in production automation & testing technologies.
Submit proposals for capital equipment purchases which improve yields, save costs and allow for capacity expansion.
Disposition discrepant hardware. Support and/or lead failure investigations, root cause determination, and corrective action implementation.
Communicates manufacturing plans and processes to internal and external customers through Manufacturing Readiness reviews.
Conceptualize and implement continuous improvement projects internally and with suppliers.
Communicate project status and issues to internal management.
Communicates product requirements and collaborates with key suppliers to manage delivery of high-quality components and assemblies to be utilized in assembly of final product
Implement and manage strong manufacturing engineering principals to ensure robust manufacturing process and high product quality. Examples are SPC, P-FMEA, Mistake Proofing, gage R&R, equipment and gage qualifications, Design for assembly, and First Article Inspections.
Basic Qualifications
Must have 4 years of Manufacturing Experience. Will consider a BS in STEM (Science, Technical, Engineering or Mathematical) related field required with 0 year of experience.
Previous manufacturing or quality engineering experience in product development and/or production environments.
Must be U.S. Citizen.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
Ability to work 1st Shift in direct support of production operations. Schedule allows for flexibility with core hours of support from 8am - 2pm daily. On-site position.
Ability to perform work independently and within team environments.
Solid verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Demands:
Ability to work for extended periods of time at a workstation on a computer or similar device for up to 10 hours / duration of shift. Occasional extended periods of standing, bending, kneeling.
Must be able to access and navigate all areas in the facility and access all machinery.
Traverse unit/product and operate in manufacturing/production environment to include: tooling, stands, ladders, steps etc. while wearing appropriate PPE and meeting all Environmental, Safety and Health (EHS) requirements.
Ability to wear personal protective equipment if required (including but not limited to, steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron and arm guards)
Ability to be able to lift, up to 35 pounds at times.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working hands-on in a production assembly line environment.
Experience building, testing and/or troubleshooting electro-mechanical assemblies in a development, lab or production environment.
Experience in the use, maintenance and / or development of automated or semi-automated functional test equipment used to test electro-mechanical products.
Familiarity or experience using LabVIEW in support of systems for test, measurement and automation.
Experience with automation systems and robotics.
* Prior experience working in the defense industry and/or with U.S. Government contracts is preferred.
Salary Range: $64,000.00 - $96,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
