The Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) - located outside of Baltimore, Maryland - where we design, manufacture, and test semiconductor products for internal and commercial production customers as well as emerging technology programs. Northrop Grumman's ATL semiconductor foundry is a unique capability supporting a range of production microelectronic devices (Silicon, Gallium Arsenide, Gallium Nitride, Silicon Carbide, Carbon Nanotubes) and providing leading edge technology development in superconducting electronics. Our devices enable several Northrop Grumman's ground-based radars, avionic radars, and space systems.

Our multidisciplinary foundry team enables activities from development to sustainment process engineering. ATL is responsible for all aspects of semiconductor technology including design, mask making, wafer fabrication, test, and assembly. The candidate must be a strong team participant, work equally well independently, communicate well with others, be resourceful, and attentive to details. A strong understanding of semiconductor technology, metrology processes, and equipment engineering is essential.
The Microelectronics CMP Sustaining Process Engineer (3rd Shift) will be responsible for:

All aspects of sustaining CMP processes for semiconductor manufacturing, including process qualifications and process safety

Interfacing with other unit process engineers and product integration engineers to develop processes to support emerging technologies

Supporting statistical process control (SPC) and continuous improvement efforts

Establishing standard operating procedures and engaging the operations team to ensure these are followed

Training and certifying technicians and maintaining process documentation

Performing all other related duties as assigned

The 3rd shift (nights) is 4/10 Sunday-Wednesday, 10PM-9AM.
This position is required to be fully on-site.
This requisition maybe filled at either Associate Microelectronics Chemical Mechanical Planarization (CMP) Sustaining Process Engineer or Microelectronics Chemical Mechanical Planarization (CMP) Sustaining Process Engineer:
Basic Qualifications for Associate Microelectronics Chemical Mechanical Planarization (CMP) Sustaining Process Engineer:

Bachelor's Degree in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or any related STEM degree with 1year technical related experience in semiconductor fabrication.

Must have basic understanding/knowledge of semiconductor Chemical Mechanical Planarization (CMP) or other related semiconductor fabrication techniques

Experience with semiconductor fabrication and working in a cleanroom environment.

Must be able to work a large percentage of time in a Class 100 cleanroom environment and be able to meet all physical and PPE requirements

Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, and problem solving skills with the ability to work with a diverse group of people including technicians, engineers and management

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance

Must be able to work 3rd shift nights, Sunday-Wednesday, 10PM-9AM.

Must be a US citizen

Basic Qualifications for Microelectronics Chemical Mechanical Planarization (CMP) Sustaining Process Engineer:

Bachelor's Degree in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or any related STEM degree with 2 years technical related experience in semiconductor fabrication, or Master's Degree with 0 year experience.

Must have basic understanding/knowledge of semiconductor Chemical Mechanical Planarization (CMP) or other related semiconductor fabrication techniques

Experience with semiconductor fabrication and working in a cleanroom environment

Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC)

Must be able to work a large percentage of time in a Class 100 cleanroom environment and be able to meet all physical and PPE requirements

Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, and problem solving skills with the ability to work with a diverse group of people including technicians, engineers and management

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance

Must be able to work 3rd shift nights, Sunday-Wednesday, 10PM-9AM.

Must be a US citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

Hands-on experience with Chemical Mechanical Planarization (CMP) and/or polishing/grinding techniques, equipment, and practices.

Direct experience with semiconductor fabrication, working in a cleanroom environment.

Advanced knowledge of statistical process control (SPC).

Experience with thin film characterization equipment and techniques

Experience in structured problem-solving methodology to troubleshoot tool and process issues.

Data analysis and visualization (JMP and/or MiniTab).

Active Secret clearance

Salary Range: $70,600.00 - $106,000.00Salary Range 2: $85,400.00 - $128,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
