WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for a Software Engineering Manager to join our Global Customs & Trade Engineering team. This Manager will be an engineering leader, leading 2 small teams working on Customs & Trade capabilities and platforms. We are part of a bigger Transportation & Trade Tech organisation under Supply Chain & Planning Technology.

This person will have confirmed experience in leading agile teams focused on building, implementing, and supporting business capabilities. They will have a solid and up-to-date understanding of modern software development.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

Recruit, lead, and motivate teams of dedicated cross-discipline engineers.
Design and lead the construction and evolution of software systems together with the respective teams' lead engineers.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

As the Software Engineering Manager, you will be a member of the Global Customs & Trade management team, reporting directly to the Director of Engineering for Customs & Trade (EMEA), and will be located at the World Head Quarters in Beaverton (Portland-Oregon), USA.

You will lead our US-based engineering teams which are linked to several products in the Customs & Trade product area. You will liaise with Business Stakeholders, Product Management, Architecture, and Support counterparts at Nike to execute Nike's Customs & Trade roadmap aligned with our Global platform strategy.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor Degree or a combination of relevant education, training and experience

Experience in leading teams

Seven years of hands-on Software Engineering experience

Hands-on experience working in an environment driven by agile/lean principles.
Hands-on experience in software development, from idea to delivery.
Knowledge of Java, Python, API design, Microservices, AWS cloud-native development
An effective communicator who can discuss low-level tactics with the engineering teams as well as translate highly technical topics into a business-related communication
Effective organizer that can seamlessly navigate between multiple ambiguous timelines and priorities Be an open-minded leader that is a constant learner, passionate about modern software development, and thrives in a diverse organization
Experience with Domain Driven Design is a plus
