WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH
You will report to the Director of Technical Design, Bodywear Center of Excellence
The Sr. Technical Designer will collaborate with Design, Product Management, PCC, materials and manufacturing to effectively execute on product development & fit goals deliverables.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The Sr. Technical Designer coordinates the fit and construction from initial concept through to commercialization and production for assigned styles to lead to on time development and delivery according to critical dates, product specification, and sustainability, performance and profitability goals.
The Sr. Technical Designer will also create and revise Tech Packs for assigned styles and ensure all appropriate development documentation is maintained including product specs and prototype notes. In addition, the Sr. Technical Designer will execute fit and construction standards for a team or product group to ensure consistency. You will track and facilitate prototyping for styles; identify and address key issues and challenges in construction/manufacturing and plans accordingly to deliver proven and tested product. Additionally, you will monitor and communicate progress and challenges throughout the product testing process to meet product integrity requirements.

The Sr. Technical Designer keeps abreast of market trends, team goals, new technologies and consumer needs throughout the development process and engages appropriately to ensure projects are completed within corporate guidelines and goals for all facets of product creation.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, experience or training
- Preferred degree in apparel design, textile science or related field.
- A minimum of 3 years directly relevant work experience
- 3+ years of technical design experience preferred in the apparel industry, including apparel development process from inception through production (pattern making, grading, construction, materials, costing, manufacturing and quality).
- Experience in bras, leggings, shapewear, swim, or other stretch to fit apparel is strongly preferred.
- Experience in creating grades, reviewing graded nests, and correcting stretch to fit patterns strongly preferred.
- Experience with construction methods for stretch fabric and performance garment strongly preferred.
- Strong problem solving, organization, collaboration and communication skills.
- Experience interpreting design intent and offering alternative solutions.
- Experience writing product specs and construction standards instructions.
- Experience working with factory vendors to ensure and improve manufacturability.
- Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Experience using Adobe Illustrator, CAD Pattern Design software (Optitex) and 3D software (Clo) highly desired.
- Proficiency with MS Office programs.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time (domestic and international).
WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON
In this role you will also be responsible for the Technical Design of assigned styles product in Bodywear (leggings, bras, and other stretch to fit apparel). Working with Design, Product Management and Product Creation Center (Asia) on tailoring the product to the specific consumer needs:
- You will be working on long development cycle franchise resets and chassis builds with teams across the business including training, running and beyond. These styles are long lifecycle and are the pillars of the business that they sit in.
- You will obsess pattern and grade while collaborating closely with Design, Product Management, and other cross functional teams to collectively meet the product brief needs.
- You will need to collaborate with many different teams across the organization and could flex to multiple team dynamics, processes, and business needs. Often needing to communicate the unique needs of our product classification to partners who are less familiar.
- You will problem solve with your peers and cross functional partners throughout the development cycle - solving for issues such as material, construction, and fit, or pivoting to meet changing business needs.
- You will consult with a variety of specialized teams around the organization including wear testing, standards, and the Nike Sports Research Lab to drive product excellence.
