WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

This posting is for 5 positions within the Nike Global Apparel function on the Men's Running, Basketball, T-Shirt Center of Excellence, Men's Sportswear and Nike Energy teams.

For Men's Running, the team is dedicated to crafting premium performance product for runners by the running obsessed. Interest or passion in the culture of running is a plus, not a must. To be successful in this role, we're looking for a Sr. Technical designer who brings experience in performance apparel, has a passion for innovation and values fit and product consistency as we serve all levels of runners. This product is high visibility and a core part of Nike's D.N.A.

For Basketball, prior experience in performance / sport product is preferred and interest or passion for Basketball and Basketball culture is a plus. On this team you'll have the ability to work on dynamic, fashion forward product with a performance edge, closely tied to current basketball culture.

For T-Shirt Center of Excellence, the team produces t-shirts for all Genders and Sport Classifications across Nike. This allows Nike to have consistency in fit, construction, and fabric in our t-shirt offering at retail and to consolidate and leverage t-shirt product expertise into a single integrated development team. This Senior Tech Designer role is on our Chassis team. Our function is to create and maintain Nike's t-shirt chassis library supporting a massive existing business while also pursuing new opportunities for growth. We emphasize digital product creation (via Browzwear), so previous work experience in this area is preferred. The ideal candidate is an experienced patternmaker with excellent communication skills and attention to detail. Additionally, the candidate needs to be able to work on multiple seasons and projects concurrently.

For Men's Sportswear, the team delivers the future look of sport through style expression, bringing trend relevant product rooted in "Sport meets Street" to the marketplace. This role requires a high level of communication, attention to detail, technical pattern making, and problem-solving skills for moderate to difficult fit issues. We are looking for someone who is proactive and solutions driven, to be part of a large team delivering against a 5.7B business.

For Nike Energy, the team is tasked with utilizing targeted Co-Creation partners (external collaborators) to create apparel for our most discerning customers to help drive energy for Nike Apparel. Due to that, the role requires someone that is not only a master patternmaker and well versed in construction, but is agile and has strong soft skills enabling us to confidently put them in meetings with external collaborators who are masters of their craft.

WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON?

In this role you will also be responsible for the Technical Design of assigned styles product in various dimensions. Working with Design, Product Management and Product Creation Center (Asia) on tailoring the product to the specific consumer needs.

The Sr. Technical Designer coordinates the fit and construction from initial concept through to commercialization and production for assigned styles to lead to on time development and delivery according to critical dates, product specification, and sustainability, performance and profitability goals.

The Sr. Technical Designer will also create and revise Tech Packs for assigned styles and ensure all appropriate development documentation is maintained including product specs and prototype notes. In addition, the Sr. Technical Designer will execute fit and construction standards for a team or product group to ensure consistency. You will track and facilitate prototyping for styles; identify and address key issues and challenges in construction/manufacturing and plans accordingly to deliver proven and tested product. Additionally, you will monitor and communicate progress and challenges throughout the product testing process to meet product integrity requirements.

The Sr. Technical Designer keeps abreast of market trends, team goals, new technologies and consumer needs throughout the development process and engages appropriately to ensure projects are completed within corporate guidelines and goals for all facets of product creation.

WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH?

The Sr. Technical Designer will collaborate with Design, Product Management, PCC, materials and manufacturing to effectively execute on product development & fit goals deliverables.

WHAT WILL YOU BRING?

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in apparel design, textile science or related field.
  • Two years additional product creation experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Minimum 5 years technical design experience in the apparel industry, which includes the apparel development process from inception through production including pattern making, grading, construction, materials, costing, manufacturing and quality.
  • Strong problem solving, organization and communication skills.
  • Experience interpreting design intent and offering alternative solutions.
  • Experience writing product specs and construction standards instructions.
  • Experience working with factory vendors to ensure and improve manufacturability.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Experience using Adobe Illustrator, CAD Pattern Design software (Optitex) and 3D software (Clo/Browzwear) highly desired.
  • Proficiency with MS Office programs.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time (domestic and international).
