WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

As the Senior Merchant - North America Direct, you will be responsible for creating the best expression of our Brand through integrated, profitable, and relevant product assortments for NA Converse.com & Converse Stores. By being the expert our NA Consumer, you will lead with data to select and assort product collections across categories to meet/exceed financial targets, all while creating premium consumer experiences for retail. The Senior Merchant is expected to lead cross-functional alignment with Planning, Allocation, and Geo Merchandising to ensure the right product is delivered on- time and meets KPIs.

You will be expected to use your fashion intuition, consumer-obsessed mindset & your very strong financial skills to accurately put together seasonal buys, rank the assortment & give recommendation on the assortment based on trends/historical data.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

This role plays an integral part in building consumer-right assortments and collecting insights across the marketplace. In collaboration with the broader Direct Team & Cross functional partners, you will be responsible for connecting the consumer with the product strategy and crafting assortments based on our global product line offering.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead with data & consumer insights to develop seasonal strategies that meet or exceed sales goals, inventory targets, and align to the overarching Converse Brand strategy
  • Analyze NA .com & Stores sales in-season + post-season to identify risks & opportunities for the NA Direct business; develop associated action plans with Direct & Geo stakeholders to then inform and adjust seasonal strategies & assortments
  • Own the creation of seasonal line plans, partnering with Planning to align category splits, SKU capacities by channel/franchise, breadth vs depth, and new vs carryover targets with channel financial objectives; effectively communicate these needs to Geo/Global Merchandising to guide design & product development
  • Be the expert on our NA Consumer through constant competitor /marketplace trend analysis and strong relationships with Stores team & Site Merchandising partners
  • Present data/consumer-driven seasonal product assortments, bottoms-up hindsights & future season recommendations to Senior Leadership Teams across Direct & Geo.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 5+ years of experience in merchandising /buying/planning (footwear experience preferred)
  • CONSUMER-FIRST MINDSET: lead with data & consumer insights to shape future product strategies
  • ACHIEVES RESULTS: Excellent business acumen & financial analysis skills; proven ability to create & execute a business strategy that meets/exceeds financial expectations
  • THINKS STRATEGICALLY: Results-oriented, possessing strong prioritization & a meticulous attention to detail
  • EMBRACES & LEADS CHANGE: A positive go-getter & team player with the ability to work independently in a fast-moving retail environment
  • DRIVES CLARITY: Excellent communication & presentation skills, with the ability to influence up & cross-functionally. Role requires strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data manipulation and analysis), PowerPoint, and Keynote
