WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

The candidate will collaborate with Product Creation teams, the Palette Material team, and other functional teams to provide education and project insights as well as standard methodologies to enable informed decision making for footwear strategic material initiatives. They will serve as the primary contact for vendors as it relates to material initiative specific issues (price, technical specs, performance). They will partner with Material Supply Chain to provide transparency when issues or concerns that may arise and you'll collaborate on a resolution.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking a Senior Footwear Materials Developer for Yarn with technical expertise to help drive product excellence through materials within Nike's footwear product. You will provide tools, palettes, materials expertise, and data to support yarn and textile creation enabling effective material selection for footwear product teams. You'll present facts and solutions clearly, with business & consumer in mind, so the team can make informed decisions!

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, experience or training
  • A minimum of 5 years directly relevant work experience
  • Experience working in Materials Development, Manufacturing, or Engineering
  • Deep understanding of Yarn and Textile material manufacturing processes required
  • Ability to translate lab testing results for end-use application
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and present data
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to anticipate needs, mitigate risks, and solve problems
  • Attention to detail, active follow-through, assertiveness, self-motivation and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to balance multiple competing projects and independently manage workload

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

As a member of the Nike Palette Materials Development team, you will be a part of the new material development processes with an emphasis on clarity of work required within material development in support of critical material strategies.

  • Drive new Yarn material creation process in collaboration with Vendors, Product, and Supply Chain teams, owning material creation from start to finish.
  • Analyse data to understand material performance and set benchmarks for new creation.
  • Review and communicate feedback to vendors for material submissions based on aesthetic, performance, quality, cost, and sustainability.
  • Partner with Material Supply Chain to make recommendations around material sourcing and costing parameters.
  • Serve as an expert for yarn technical knowledge as well as creation process to internal Nike groups and External partners.
