The CMTS Design Excellence team, comprised of Color, Materials, Trend, and Sustainability, sets the mood and vibe for the brand by defining uniquely Nike industry-leading creative strategies and directions that impact inline product creation. Sustainable Product Design Excellence specifically drives Nike's sustainable product and design strategy for Footwear, Apparel and Accessories.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for a Senior Director of Sustainable Product, Design Excellence. This role oversees our Design strategy and Product and Materials strategy that will impact our Nike 2030 sustainability targets, while also managing the Impact and Future Sustainability design teams to set and communicate the overarching vision for Sustainability within Nike Design, aligned to Nike's Global Sustainability strategy. The ideal candidate needs to be a highly-creative leader, have a deep understanding of product creation, have strong influencing skills to integrate sustainability priorities in collaboration with cross-functional partners, and the ability to navigate internal and external environmental policies and work in strong collaboration with the Global Sustainability teams.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

If this is you, you'll be working with cross-discipline Design and Product teams (materials, color, product, innovation), Development and Supply Chain teams, cross-functional Operations, and downstream Business partners to drive impactful projects that deliver against Nike's Sustainability strategy and 2030 sustainability targets.

A typical day/week looks like leading and communicating Design's vision for Sustainability across Footwear, Apparel and Accessories, pushing strategy and innovation into the inline working teams to advance recreation projects, and protect the future of sport through across our impact areas of climate, circularity, nature, and people.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

This role does have direct reports, comprised of individual contributors and managers, and reports to the VP, Color, Materials, Trend, Sustainability Product Design Excellence. You will regularly partner with Global Sustainability Leadership, CMTS Design Leadership, Design Operations, Product Creation teams and Innovation teams, and engage with the broader end-to-end enterprise Sustainability team.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Product Creation, Design, Business, or related field, or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
  • Minimum of 10 years Product Creation (Design and/or Business) experience and knowledge.
  • Creative future visioning, high taste-level and critical thinking.
  • Champion of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Clear, Concise, and Thoughtful (strong verbal and written skills). Engaging presenter and influencer using excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills with the ability to make the complex simple. Ability to present new ideas or concepts to small and large groups, including addressing executive leaders.
  • Strong understanding of legislative and regulatory processes and their potential impacts on product and business.
  • A passion for sustainability and a dedication to integrating sustainable principles into business practices.
  • Shown ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage direct reports.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to work at all levels of the company, collaborating effectively across the matrix to achieve goals and build support for programs with key business partners.
  • Demonstrated success in driving sustainability initiatives within an industry context, showcasing a track record of achieving measurable results.
