Who Will You Work With?

We are looking for a Senior Accountant who will directly report to the Manager, Revenue and Inventory for Pacific (Australia and New Zealand). In addition to working closely with the Pacific Finance team and APLA Head Office, the successful candidate will work closely with a large and diverse group across many functions within Nike, including Marketplace Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics, Project teams, as well as Offshore Managed Service Provider.

Who Are We Looking For?

We are seeking a driven and experienced Senior Accountant to provide accounting and commercial support to the Pacific Finance Controlling team, focusing on revenue & supply chain skills for our Pacific Business.

Our best accountants are agile, inquisitive, have the ability to immerse themselves in detail when needed, while simultaneously being able to view issues holistically.

The candidate needs to have strong business partnering and story-telling skills, with a conscious shift from sharing information to sharing insights, ultimately using this to drive outcomes and improvements to the overall business. We are seeking someone with a problem solving mindset, who is able to identify root causes of issues, and implement resolutions.

The candidate should be able to work autonomously and have the ability to translate business requirements into operationalization with considerations for financial risks and controls across end-to-end processes.

The candidate will ideally have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, preferably with CPA or equivalent professional qualification
  • 5+ years of progressive experience with public accounting firms and/or multi-national companies desired, with preferable experience in supply chain management, inventory and costing, and revenue recognition
  • Knowledge of US GAAP, local GAAP and SOX required
  • Strong technical foundation of accounting, balanced with strong commercial acumen and conceptual understanding of the business
  • Experience with SAP and ERP systems and enabling tool solutions (e.g. Blackline, Business Warehouse) would be an added advantage

NB: Irregular work hours may be required during peak periods

What Will You Work On?

This is a broad role that encompasses revenue and supply chain activities for month-end close, financial reporting & analysis, inventory management, as well as projects and other ad hoc activities across many facets of the Nike business across the Pacific region. This will also involve working closely with our Managed Service Provider.

In this role you will:

  • Oversee and support month end process for revenue and inventory related entries (discounts, rebates, Market Development Funds, SG&A, shrinkage, obsolescence), review and analysis of month end variances.
  • Ownership and preparation of relevant reporting requirements including balance sheet reconciliations, quarter end schedules, monthly reporting decks, SOX controls.
  • Review and manage sales and inventory reporting and tender reconciliation of Nike retail stores across the Pacific territory, ensuring accuracy, data integrity and system alignment across POS, SAP and Tableau systems for both revenue and inventory positions.
  • Oversee and assist in the preparation of costing related activities, including costing runs, and review and analysis of significant PPV variances, performing deep dive analysis at a cost component level, and provide margin analysis support for relevant stakeholders.
  • Review and analysis of all inventory adjustments, cycle counts and stock takes across the retail stores and DCs down to a material and reason level, business partnering with warehouse and retail teams to communicate material movements and action plans to address significant variances
  • Assist in reviewing aging inventory and partaking in obsolescence reviews, helping to make critical and judgmental decisions based on connects with the business.
  • Support large projects, including the implementation, set up and maintenance of financial, accounting or control implications of a new DC facility, digital commerce platform and TMS.
