Principal, Footwear Product Testing Business Operations

WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

In this role, you'll report to the Senior Director, Global Footwear Product Testing, based at NIKE's World Headquarters in Beaverton OR. As a part of the team, you will work with our leaders across Development, Engineering, Materials Development, FlyKnit, the Bowerman Footwear Lab, Mechanical and Materials Testing lab and more to ensure our aligned Global offense for team and product excellence is optimized and productive!

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a Principal Footwear Business Operations teammate to join the Footwear Product Testing (FPT) team.

This critical role serves the Footwear Product Testing team in an operational role that helps drive and execute our product excellence vision and strategy. This position also serves as the informal "Chief of Staff" for the Senior Director of Footwear Product testing serving as a thought partner for a wide array of team and business opportunities.

This candidate needs to have the ability to influence, motivate, energize, and inspire a global Footwear Product Testing organization that includes team members in the USA, APLA, Europe, and Asia. Additionally, they should have demonstrated ability to work across functional teams with clarity, an enterprise approach, and an eye for growth and serving the athlete (or consumer) at an industry-leading level.

In this role you will cultivate an environment in which differences are openly shared, embraced and incorporated into the team culture. You will take initiative to recognize and solve problems requiring independent judgment, identify and apply new concepts and solutions, as well connect leadership opportunities across the Global Testing Team.

The successful candidate will demonstrate proven influencing skills, exceptional communication and organizational skills and the ability to take initiative in identifying areas of opportunity and implementing solutions in conjunction with the leadership team.

  • Subject matter expertise in the footwear, product testing, development, marketing, operations, business strategy, digital, engineering, is preferred.
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to elicit information, actively listen, dialogue freely, verbalize ideas optimally.
  • Experience working with vendors, external partners, and teams
  • Relationship building and influencing skills
  • Ability to lead cross-functional workstreams
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs and strong familiarity with spreadsheet database and statistical analysis procedures (ex Tableau, Smartsheets)
  • Passion for sport is a plus
  • Ability to travel up to 10% per year, domestically and internationally

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, experience or training
  • A minimum of 8 years directly relevant work experience

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

If this is you, you'll be a part of the extended Footwear Product Testing leadership team, helping lead the offense for team and testing excellence. You'll help operationalize our key strategic priorities and identify new ways of working in service of our leadership team, ranging from current systems to future opportunities.

You will collaborate with Product Testing leaders and cross functional partners to implement global, complex strategic plans while factoring in interdependencies with other NIKE internal teams. You'll also work side-by-side with the FPT leadership team to ensure our various global testing teams are working seamlessly to drive speed, innovation, product and testing excellence. You'll provide objective measurements of success and dashboards to move the offense forward and offer recommendations on how to proceed in service of our teammates, consumers, and athletes. At times, you will also represent the Footwear Product Testing Leadership team in cross-functional meetings, including (but not limited to) the Footwear Leadership team.

  • You will provide thought leadership within the footwear testing and product creation space.
  • You will create and be responsible for evolving external relationships.
  • You'll apply workload management tools and metrics to help make data-informed decisions.
  • You will be responsible for collaborating with external partners to drive our digital strategy.
