We are hiring for multiple Lead Materials Development positions here with NikeSKIMS!

WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

You will partner with the cross functional Apparel team collaborating with Design, Product Merchandising, Technical Development, Sourcing and Manufacturing. You will need to work effectively across the team to ensure a thoughtful approach to developing new materials and maintain an understanding of how materials perform when in garment form.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for an innovative and curious Lead Material Developer for NikeSKIMS with a passion for textiles, trims and color. The candidate will use their technical materials knowledge, strategic thinking and collaborative skills to deliver creative material solutions. In addition, the candidate will drive analysis and material reviews that result in optimized materials palettes and color approvals. The candidate will ensure all materials are executed on-time through the commercialization process. A strong skillset across development as well as an understanding of the product creation process will ensure delivery of exceptional product.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, experience or training
  • A minimum of 5 years directly relevant work experience
  • Experience working in Textile Science, Apparel, Footwear, Technical materials including yarns, knitting, weaving, dyeing, printing and finishing techniques. Bodywear materials is a plus.
  • Experience partnering with vendor to develop and test a material from inception to production
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft office applications and Product Data Management. Smartsheet and Tableau a plus.
  • Experience with digital color systems or color lab dip approval
  • Experience managing multiple projects with competing resources and deadlines across multiple seasons
  • Strong information seeking-skills and a drive to make things happen
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a diverse group
  • Ability to network and utilize internal and external resources
  • Knowledge of industry material trends
  • Ability to travel up to approximately 20% of the time

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

The successful candidate will use the product creation calendar to ensure seasonal materials are developed, tested and commercialized on time. You'll manage vendor communication and have a good understanding of vendor capabilities as it relates to category specific issues (price, technical specs, performance). You'll appropriately manage risk, problem solve, & proactively seek information to make informed decisions (with support as needed)!
