Digital Technical Design Lead, Innovation

WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

As part of the NXT Apparel team, you will report to the Technical Design Director and work alongside Design Engineers, Material Innovators, Product Developers and Apparel Designers. You will have broad exposure and engagement with cross functional project and category teams. You will possess technical fit expertise and be the expert in digital making.

For the Innovation Studio, you will work with our clients to bring their vision to life in digital or physical form. You will act as a technical resource and mentor to others and will identify and lead educational opportunities to extend adoption of our digital capabilities across Nike.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for a Digital Technical Design Lead to be part of our Apparel R&D Innovation Concept Studio. The mission and vision of the studio is to provide creative insights, research and technical expertise to inspire discovery and experimentation. We utilize unconventional approaches and state of the art technology to create conceptual, digital and physical solutions.

This role will bring Designer sketches to life by creating complete patterns and crafting digital and physical concepts. You will act as a creative thought partner and innovation problem solver. You will provide consultation and insights to clients and review iterative digital and physical garments.

The candidate needs to possess the following traits and skills:

  • Deep knowledge in pattern making and fit
  • Thorough understanding of textile properties and how they affect fit and drape
  • 3D Clo Expertise
  • Knowledge and experience in trial and piloting new software and hardware
  • Understanding of the end-to-end Apparel product creation process
  • Thorough understanding of garment construction including sewing and garment engineering
  • Innovation-mindset; creative, curious, observant, risk-taker, resilient, connected
  • Strong communication, influencing and presentation skills
  • Flexible, self-starter, motivated to continually learn and grow

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, experience or training
  • A minimum of 6 years directly relevant work experience

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

If this is you, you'll be part of an R&D studio that is pushing the boundaries of Apparel product creation through discovery and experimentation. Your day to day will consist of the following activities;

  • Provide fit and pattern making expertise to Design clients in NXT and Category Partners
  • Create 2D complete patterns and 3D/4D simulations
  • Educate others on fit and construction possibilities by leveraging your CLO3D expertise as a platform for product creation
  • Exhibit curiosity in additive software such as photo shop, illustrator, substance, scanning software
  • Provide technical expertise and consultation for our clients and lead and guide them in their decision-making process
  • Research new technologies that are compatible with current capabilities or are exploring new ways of making
  • Provide technical resource and mentorship to others; identify and lead educational opportunities
