WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH
You will be reporting to the local Senior Manager of Chemical Engineering and interacting closely with other Lead Chemical Engineers across the globe on functional projects. You will also be strongly connected to the Chemical team, Product Creation team, Material Supply Chain and the Sustainable Product teams located in World Headquarters (WHQ). Locally, you will work with Factory Partner teams, Product Development team and other functional teams as well as Tier 2 & Tier 3 suppliers and vendors.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Nike Vietnam is looking for a Lead Chemical Engineer. This role will use specialized knowledge and experience to tackle critical technical problems in Footwear Product Development and Manufacturing to ensure delivery of world-class highly innovative and sustainable products. You will be accountable for all engineering and technical subject areas involved in assuring project accuracy/quality from concept to completion, through close collaboration with Asia and WHQ teams. Expectations include leading global programs and partnering with various stakeholders across the enterprise to ensure timely delivery of key programs against Nike's innovation and sustainability initiatives. The candidate should be capable of not only executing on existing projects but generating new programs in partnership with key vendors for consideration against innovation and sustainability goals. The candidate will generate new ways of thinking about chemical engineering concepts and their relation to the design and development of new products and processes. Additionally, deep engagement with innovative concepts and initiatives of sustainability and automation will be critical.
- Minimum 5 years of experiences in Engineering industry, footwear experiences preferably.
- Bachelor's, Master's or Ph.D. Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Polymers, or other related sub-specialty fields.
- Proven abilities to not only work with cross cultural/functional teams but also lead projects with data analysis tools and project teams through openness and honesty and have the courage to make tough calls when needed.
- Proficient in both written and spoken English.
- Willingness to travel internationally and commute locally to manufacturing facilities.
- The ability to lift 10KG pertains to the capacity for handling, testing, and auditing within the manufacturing process, as well as the capability to hold and transport samples such as rubber materials and chemical bags.
WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON
As a Lead Chemical Engineer, you will be responsible for establishing and driving functional initiatives, including validations with data analysis and proliferation roadmap, with engineering standards and best practices across locations and functional teams, Product Creation and Manufacturing teams as well as third-party suppliers.
- You will work on the most complex engineering challenges and initiatives, turning concepts into reality by working in, or with, multi-disciplinary teams that include product creation, manufacturing, sustainable product, global sustainability, materials procurement, responsible sourcing and manufacturing, Innovation, Material & Mechanical advanced Lab, and third-party vendors.
- You'll focus on sustainability and manufacturing excellence by aligning to develop new sustainable materials and processes that ultimately drive and support our overall sustainability goals while also ensuring quality, craftsmanship and efficiency.
- You will partner closely with the WHQ chemical engineering team to prioritize and develop the next generation of sustainable materials, formulations, and processes for foams, rubbers, adhesives, solvents, additives, plastics and more.
- You will be expected as Subject Matter Expert in Footwear Chemical Engineering to mentor other engineers and peers in the Partner Management Office (PMO) as well as be a local advocate for sustainability solutions and chemicals related troubleshooting.
- Additionally, you will be responsible for establishing and driving functional initiatives with engineering standards across multiple Dimensions and Field of Plays. You'll drive innovation initiatives throughout development including validations and will lead proliferation and communication high profile cross Dimensions. You'll influence the product and process teams for developing and manufacturing footwear best practices, by leveraging dimensional, functional, and technical knowledge.
