WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for an Associate General Counsel, OGC Innovation to provide legal support to the OGC Innovation Team with a focus on strategic resourcing of legal work. The best Associate General Counsels are results-driven, strong team players, have a bias for action, and an ability to work cross-functionally within a multinational organization. Your team will build and implement strategies for outsourcing and driving efficiencies for legal teams across the globe. We value enterprise level thinkers with a global perspective and a flexible-future oriented mindset. Comfort with ambiguity is a must. A willingness to excel in a dynamic and fast-paced environment is critical. You must have strong interpersonal skills and be a good listener and an excellent verbal and written communicator with all levels of the company.

What you will work on

As an Associate General Counsel, OGC Innovation, you will focus on executing outsourcing strategies, managing the operational aspects of legal outsourcing, and ensuring alignment with cost-saving goals and efficiencies. This role plays a key part in implementing competitive procurement processes and monitoring external provider performance. You will support the Director and Assistant General Counsel on your team in managing legal outsourcing relationships and overseeing cost control measures.​ You will contribute to the development and execution of outsourcing best practice strategies by identifying inefficiencies and recommending improvements.​ You will engage in competitive procurement processes (RFPs) and participate in evaluating alternative legal service providers and law firms for potential partnerships.​ You will help track legal spend and performance metrics, ensuring compliance with budgetary goals and reporting to the Director of your team.

Who you will work with

You will be reporting to Nike's Director, Assistant General Counsel, OGC Innovation overseeing strategic outsourcing. You will support the Director and the Assistant General Counsel in their work. You will partner closely with other teams of the Nike Office of General Counsel to understand their strategies and ways of working. You will collaborate with our Operations counterparts and other enabling functions at Nike.

What you bring

  • A Juris Doctorate degree from accredited law school and active state bar license in good standing, of at least one US State Bar and willingness to commit to membership in the Oregon State Bar.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a law firm environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills-able to influence at all of levels and across functions in a complex matrix organization. Able to develop differing points of view for the benefit of innovation.
  • Willingness to work independently with minimal guidance. Ability to drive the team to hit milestones and strategic objectives and manage competing projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to identify solutions and take a new perspective on existing solutions. Proficiency with data and analytics to help drive decision making.
  • Confidence in working on a team and driving change.
