WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

The Expert Apparel Designer role will report to the Design Director, Energy Apparel. Additionally, you will partner internally and cross-functionally with our Product Management, Technical Development and Catalyst Brand teams.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

As our Expert Apparel Designer in Energy Apparel, you will lead design efforts and utilize your exceptional design skills to create original, style-led innovative designs that accurately reflect Nike's design philosophies and lead the industry. The candidate needs to have a distinct talent for responding to business objectives with creative design solutions aligned to consumer insights.

Role Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Apparel/Fashion Design or related design field or equivalent combination of relevant education, experience, and training.
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience in a design environment working with materials, trims, design and fit.
  • Exceptional ability to apply and perform design skills, including hand drawing/sketching, hand illustrations, need to be well versed in Adobe Illustrator, concept ideation, color theory, use of texture, spacing and scale, visual presentation development and layout.
  • High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Procreate for iPad.
  • Comprehensive understanding of garment construction.
  • Comprehensive understanding of textile sciences.
  • Comprehensive understanding of apparel trims.
  • 3D design program experience is a plus.
  • Ability to build design worlds, mood boards and presentations of creative vision.
  • Ability to translate consumer knowledge and insights into product solutions and narratives.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, including ability to inspire, involve and mentor others within work group.
  • Accustomed to working in a rapidly changing, high growth environment and to manage multiple and competing work priorities, demands and changes.
  • Embody the passion to work on innovation and style.
  • An enthusiastic and positive attitude and the ability to work efficiently in a quick paced environment.

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

If this is you, you'll be working cross-category with our Design teams to strategize, create, drive and deliver powerful presentations for seasonal design proposals that effectively communicate the concept behind the line for internal and external audiences. You will lead design product processes to ensure design deliverables and timelines are met. This opportunity also involves partnering cross-category with Design Leadership and category team members in Design, Development and Product Management to ensure design feasibility, merchandising needs and product creation timelines.

You will design and oversee apparel collections across a wide range and lead the process from concept through completion. You'll provide prototype sampling information, including fabrication, trim, color, graphic applications, style, detail, fit requirements and construction detail. You will also monitor the development of prototype samples and interact with our Development, Pattern Making, Material, and the Sample Room to exchange ideas and ensure timely completion of each project. You will maintain and continually expand upon expert knowledge of current trends, color, and consumer-related products through market travel and research. From concepting seasonal collections, to working with manufacturing partners, to communicating directly with athletes and collaborators, the daily responsibilities of this role are wide ranging, ambitious, and rewarding.
