WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

The Director, Merchandising, India will report directly to the General Manager, India and will be part of the India Leadership Team. This role will indirectly manage a diverse India team tasked with laying the foundations for the next phase of growth in India to bring the Assortment vision and strategy to life. This role will also work with stakeholders across India, the Southeast Asia & India (SEA&I) territory, as well as our Asia Pacific and Latin America geography and Nike global organization to ensure alignment of consumer, marketplace strategies and product priorities all in support of the larger territory business priorities.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a Merchandising Director, who will lead the merchandising strategy for India. You have strong merchandising, communication and business analytical skills. You are a self-starter and strategic thinker with a strong collaboration and partnership mentality. You have effective verbal and written communication skills, including meeting facilitation and presentations in English. You instill trust with people you work with, embrace and lead changes, foster effective teamwork, develop other team members including those who don't have direct reporting relationship. Your drive clarity and ensure accountability in the team.

  • Bachelor's degree in business management or marketing and minimum of 15+ years of relevant work experience or Master's in Fashion Merchandising /Business Administration.
  • Strong passion for sports.
  • Highly developed skills of managing art & science (eye for product aesthetics & analytics).
  • Must have commercial experience at management level.
  • Demonstrate leadership capability, including ability to motivate and mentor others. Ability to lead and manage in highly ambiguous and dynamic environments.
  • Strong influencing skills and ability to champion complex projects both cross functionally and vertically within the organization.
  • Ability to manage long, mid- and short-term objectives of business & brand with balanced manner.
  • Exposure to strategic Product P/L management. Pricing, cost management in retail /fashion industry.
  • Understanding of Inventory management and merchandising planning (Concept to Retail).
  • Experience in strategic leadership roles with working and partnering across functions.
  • High-level understanding of retail/ merchandising, preferably in Apparel & Footwear.
  • Multinational reporting and willingness to travel locally and internationally.

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

As our Merchandising Director your nature of work is focused on consumer insights, assortment planning, Go to Market process, and product management. You will be responsible for management of multiple phases of the merchandising process. You will be responsible for leading the pre-season, in-season and post-season merchandising process by cascading the Consumer Assortment Strategy, ensuring the Country edited offer is differentiated/segmented in the service of the consumer. To that end you'll,

  • Lay the foundations for planning and implementing the consumer strategy offense.
  • Manage, modify, support, and drive the Merchandising process.
  • Apply business and management expertise to achieve financial and operational objectives through Merchandising lens.
  • Make decisions guided by functional business plans that impact the support and funding of projects, products, services and/or technologies.
  • Perform work in support of brand plans. Lead or participate in key initiatives, programs or products with moderate to wide visibility.
  • Develop departmental plans, including business, production and/or organizational priorities.
  • Establish best practices as it relates to merchandising in area of responsibility.
  • Drive the review of all resources, measuring relative efficiency, recommending invest / divest options. Oversight includes all functions.
