WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to join our unified Endpoint Engineering team as part of the mobile release engineering function.

As part of the mobile release engineering function, they will play a critical role in mentoring and developing engineers, planning, communicating with business partners and application development teams, prioritizing work, coordinating engineering effort across a global team, and keeping pace with change in an evolving domain.

The mobile release engineering team is responsible for ensuring seamless delivery of our mobile applications to customers worldwide. The team designs, builds, and maintains infrastructure and automation for build, test, and release of Android and iOS applications. These include our flagship consumer applications like SNKRS and Nike Run Club, retail stores apps for for POS and inventory, and hundreds of internal applications.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for coaching team members, preparing work for the team, influencing developer teams, setting sprint priorities, coordinating with geography partners, communicating deliverables to leadership, resourcing projects, managing domain specific contracts, and evaluating our technology stack against emerging trends in the domain.

A typical week may include, working with the team's agile process, meeting with partners to gather requirements and evaluate requests, cross-training with a teammate, or working with a dev team to update their pipelines to utilize supported feature patterns.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

You would join the Mobile Release Engineering team which is part of Unified Endpoint Engineering, based out of Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, OR. Working with application development teams, our broader engineering organization to standardize use of MDM platforms, vendors, external application providers, and support teams.

WHAT YOU BRING

The candidate needs to have demonstrated experience leading people, planning and preparing work for an engineering team, communicating broadly, influencing supported teams, and using a DevOps approach to solve challenges. Automation efforts will focus on APIs of our dependent systems, Service Now, Workspace One, App Center, Jamf, Azure, and AWS. Experience with our DevOps toolset or analogous products is a plus: Ansible, Docker, Jenkins, Anka, Python, and Packer.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or similar field or relevant professional experience, education, and training.
  • 7+ years of applicable professional experience, preferably including a global retail enterprise
  • 2+ years release engineering experience, preferably mobile applications
  • 2+ years experience leading or managing teams
  • Demonstrated automation experience, preferably utilizing open-source tooling (Ansible/Jenkins/Docker)
  • Experience communicating and influencing a broad set of partners and teams
  • Experience planning and prioritizing work using agile methodologies and tools
  • Natural aptitude and skill for planning and execution
