As a Legal Counsel, you will be a member of our Nike Legal team. This position is based at Nike's EMEA headquarters in Hilversum, The Netherlands. You will be responsible for supporting and managing the legal aspects of Nike's direct-to-consumer portfolio and its legal strategy, with a focus on the transformation of Nike Direct's Partner Management model in support of its Next % and Win Now Strategy.

WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

The Legal Counsel will work closely with senior business leaders and teams on a variety of strategic initiatives across Nike Direct owned , Nike.com and Partnered Stores in EMEA, including partner management transformation, divestments, mergers, partner's take overs, country expansion, digital services, as well as digital products, experiences and services across Nike direct-to-consumer and Nike Stores Partner channels, helping them understand the relevant legal and regulatory frameworks, and building executable plans.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • University degree in law.
  • 7-10 years post qualification experience in a law firm or in-house exper ence in a consumer facing company or a retailer.
  • Proven experience as trusted business leader advisor, representing corporations in commercial transactions and general business law.
  • Strong International and Commercial law background
  • In-depth knowledge of commercial, franchise and consumer protection laws in one or more countries in EMEA.
  • Strong understanding of and interest in sales, distribution, franchise, consumer and competition law and the technology that supports digital products and commerce in one or more countries in EMEA.
  • Highly effective communicator - written and oral.
  • True team player with ability and desire to work cross-functionally in a complex organizational structure.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Intellectually curious, with strong desire to continuously grow and develop.
  • Results driven. Proven experience leading strategic projects and providing strategic advice to senior business leaders with strong ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn business requirements quickly, analyze legal and commercial risks, and propose creative, business-oriented solutions.
  • Sound risk assessment capabilities in rapidly evolving areas and comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Business fluency in English; written and oral. Strong working knowledge of another primary European language would be an asset.

WHAT YOU'll WORK ON

In this role you will:

  • Draft and negotiate commercial contracts, supporting Nike Direct's partner management business in EMEA, including sales and distribution, franchise agreements, terminations, amendments, renewals , digital partnership deals and other related agreements.
  • Lead and support business to manage and resolve partner's disputes and advise through settlement negotiations.
  • Lead legal trainings for relevant business stakeholders (e.g. franchise law) and develop legal tool kits as need it.
  • Identify and address legal, privacy, competition and consumer regulatory issues in EMEA and work with the relevant Office of General Counsel ("OGC") teams and business stakeholders to resolve these matters.
  • Lead and support business to unlock new business model, digital services and consumer experiences.
  • Analyze potential legal and brand risks, and partner with relevant stakeholders to establish and implement solutions to mitigate risks and achieve business objectives.
  • Deploy and manage outside legal counsel to ensure high-value, cost-effective representation.
  • Lead and facilitate legal training sessions for relevant business stakeholders as need it.
  • Help Nike build and maintain a diverse and inclusive culture where we can all bring our best selves, every day.
  • Work in a highly collaborative EMEA and Global OGC team environment.
