Senior Premium Auditor
Job Overview:
The Senior Premium Auditor is a key partner within the company, specializing in complex Workers' Compensation audits and performing test state audits (CA, FL, OR, AK). This role requires advanced technical expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to mentor team members while optimizing audit quality and operational processes. Senior Premium Auditors embody NEXT’s value of playing as a team while driving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complex and Multi-State Audits: Senior Premium Auditors are responsible for executing high-value, multi-state Workers' Compensation audits, including test state audits (CA, FL, OR, AK). This involves applying a deep understanding of diverse state-specific regulations and exhibiting a higher level of expertise and autonomy in handling more complex and higher-stakes situations than those typically managed by a Premium Auditor II.
- Dispute Resolution: At the IC3 level, there is a greater focus on managing and resolving complex or unique audit disputes. This requires a refined skill set in problem-solving, as Senior Premium Auditors are expected to act as subject-matter experts in dispute resolution, dealing with more challenging cases that require a nuanced understanding of policy, law, and client interactions.
- Strategic Oversight and Compliance: Senior Premium Auditors oversee the review and reconciliation of audits, particularly in complex jurisdictions like California (WCIRB). This role demands a strategic approach to ensure alignment with state regulations and requires the auditor to exercise considerable discretion in how audits are conducted and reviewed to meet regulatory compliance.
- Training and Process Improvement: Unlike the IC2 level, the Senior Premium Auditor is involved in developing training sessions and identifying process improvements. This responsibility requires independent judgment in assessing the effectiveness of current audit processes and devising and implementing enhancements that will benefit the audit team and the company at large.
- Mentoring and Leadership: The IC3 role involves a mentorship component where the auditor supports and guides less experienced team members. This aspect of the job requires discretion in handling interpersonal relations and the ability to impart knowledge in a way that is accessible and empowering to others.
