This position primarily involves a hybrid work schedule - working remotely: Monday & Friday / on site: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

At Institutional Annuities, New York Life's specialized annuity business, you'll play a pivotal role in crafting financial stability for businesses and institutions nationwide. Our diverse suite of annuity products, ranging from capital market offerings to pension risk transfer solutions, empowers organizations of all sizes to navigate risk and secure their future financial obligations.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and versatile Strategy and Operations Director to join our Institutional Annuities (IA) business, which covers stable value, pension risk transfer, capital markets spread lending, and structured settlements. This role reports directly to the Head of Institutional Annuities and will play a critical role in driving strategic initiatives, enhancing operational efficiency, and fostering a positive, collaborative culture across the business. NYL has been strategically focused on growing its IA business, and this role will be instrumental in supporting the development, prioritization, and advancement of key business initiatives. Together, the IA businesses generate more than $400 million of NYL's annual earnings and comprise more than $90 billion in AUM supporting our liabilities.

The ideal candidate will have a blend of experience in annuities and capital markets, with a stronger focus on business storytelling and operational acumen. You will act as a trusted partner and consultant to business leaders, helping shape and support initiatives that drive the growth and success of our business.

What You'll Do:

  • Partner with business leaders to develop, prioritize, and execute strategic initiatives that drive new business growth and operational efficiency.
  • Support key projects and initiatives, working across various lines of business and functions.
  • Foster strong, trusting relationships across the organization, becoming the go-to person for consulting and partnership.
  • Conduct competitive and market analysis to identify industry trends, opportunities, and best practices to help inform strategic direction.
  • Support efforts to strengthen our organizational culture and leadership capabilities.
  • Take a hands-on approach to project management, ensuring successful coordination, execution, and delivery of key initiatives by actively engaging in all aspects of project implementation.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation of strategic initiatives.
  • Communicate business insights and strategies effectively to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Set key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of strategic initiatives.

What You'll Bring:

  • 10+ years of experience in strategy, operations, or consulting with a preference for experience in financial services. Depth of experience in annuities, retirement, and capital markets a plus. Strong business storytelling skills, with the ability to craft compelling business narratives and communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally, lead initiatives, and build relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with a willingness to participate end to end to ensure project success.
  • Experience with competitive and market analysis.
  • Ability to thrive in a hybrid work environment and manage priorities effectively in a fast-paced setting.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies a plus

Pay Transparency

Salary Range: $130,000-$190,000

Overtime eligible: Exempt

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes

Sales bonus eligible: No

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
