Overview

To supervise the day-to-day functions and productivity of the Mortgage Loan Delivery section. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of the work performed, and adherence to VA, FHA, GNMA, RESPA, FNMA, FHLMC, Federal, State, Investor and Navy Federal Credit Union regulations and guidelines. To plan, coordinate, direct and supervise the review of collateral loan documents to ensure completeness and accuracy and verify the validity and accuracy of mortgage and equity loan documents. Oversee the correction of critical documents to meet Investor, FNMA, FHLMC, GNMA and Navy Federal Credit Union guidelines and regulations. Communicate with Comptroller to arrange for the timely delivery of collateral documents for mortgage loans included in pools/commitments sold to the GNMA, FNMA, FHLMC and private investors. Record, track, and monitor documentation issues and productivity. Provide leadership and guidance on staff training of procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the review, analysis and completion of collateral mortgage documents necessary prior to setup in Servicing
  • Interact with Mortgage Production sections, attorneys and closing agents to acquire original or corrected documents within the specified time frames
  • Oversee the accuracy and completion of collateral documents delivered to appropriate teams (i.e. Comptroller, imaging team, Investor certification team)
  • Ensure timeliness, as well as accuracy and completeness, of records delivered for final certification of Government Pools
  • Train Post Settlement staff on the review of collateral documentation (such as Mortgage Notes, Final Title Policies, Security Instruments) to meet agency, investor and regulatory guidelines
  • Oversee the research and resolution of title issues regarding insured matters to confirm lien position with internal NFCU staff, Closing Agents, Title Company, external vendors and members
  • Review production and exception reports; identify issues affecting turnaround times and productivity
  • Ensure accuracy of reports that are presented to all levels of management and various business units
  • Establish qualitative and quantitative measures to meet compliance goals and expectations
  • Provide clear direction to ensure business unit goals & objectives align with section and department priorities
  • Analyze workflow, procedures, and practices, and make recommendations/implement corrective action to improve quality and/or efficiency
  • Ensure adherence to investor guidelines, state and federal regulations and alignment with Navy Federal policies and procedures
  • Develop safeguards to ensure the integrity of financial data transferred between systems and provided to members
  • Establish positive work environment, open communication and accountability; resolve technical or resource issues
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to Project Manager, team and/or management
  • Involved in driving continuous process improvement to increase member experience quality; reduce losses;
  • minimize financial risk and maintain high operational efficiency
  • Prepare, conduct and review performance appraisals
  • Monitor and communicate changes to Post Settlement Operations/Account Servicing/Escrow Servicing Management (mortgage loans/discrepancies) rules and regulations affecting policies and procedures
  • Perform supervisory duties
  • Set performance standards and expectations
  • Select, measure, reward, counsel and develop team members
  • Prepare management and financial reports
  • Provide input to Annual Financial Plan (AFP)
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Experience in related field, such as mortgage origination, post settlement servicing operations and/or underwriting
  • Working knowledge of related federal guidelines/laws pertaining to state and federal laws related to mortgage loans and servicing (e.g., HUD, the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, etc.)
  • Significant experience working in a high volume, fast paced environment
  • Experience in leading, guiding and mentoring others
  • Significant experience applying techniques used in analyzing and reporting financial information
  • Advanced skill exercising the ability to recruit, retain, coach and motivate employees to achieve production results
  • Advanced skill exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions
  • Advanced skill in interacting tactfully in difficult situations
  • Advanced organizational, planning, time management, and problem solving skills
  • Highly effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced skill with database, word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software

Desired Qualifications

  • Title background
  • Significant experience in mortgage origination and post settlement servicing operations
  • Knowledge of Navy Federal objectives, policies & procedures, organizational and functional relationships
  • Mortgage Serving System (i.e. BKFS) experience preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance or related field or equivalent education/experience

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM
