Overview

Team Overview: The Escheatment (aka "Unclaimed Property") team executes the process of reporting and remitting thousands of abandoned accounts (properties) to 54 states or U.S. territories when those items have been dormant for approximately 3-5 years.

This team of analysts falls under the Membership division of the Savings & Membership Department.

The summer associate would fill a critical role in helping optimize the escheatment process to drive the delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting. Focuses include engaging in cloud and data transformation initiatives, implementing process improvement, identifying, and mitigating risks, and securing strong alignment with legal, risk, and compliance teams.

The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program beginning in May 2025 and ending in August 2025. Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of December 2025 or later.

Responsibilities

DATA & MODERNIZATION

  • Engage with technology teams to help transform business processes using cloud and data-driven tools & resources
  • Partner with analyst teams to resolve data management challenges and implement best practices

PROCESS & OPERATIONS

  • Optimize daily mailbox/research inquiry management
  • Identify ways to streamline manual processes and/or eliminate process gaps/risks

CENTRALIZATION & STANDARDIZATION

  • Centralize all escheatment resources in a single online portal
  • Catalog and categorize a comprehensive set of escheatment documentation: policies, procedures, process maps, etc.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree
  • Experience with research, analysis, and data manipulation
  • Excellent oral/written communication and presentation skills
  • Preoccupation with identifying and eliminating risks, solving problems and improving processes
  • Interest in financial regulations and how they intersect with people, processes, and technology

Desired but not required

  • Experience using data, analytic, and collaboration tools such as: PowerBI and SharePoint
