Senior Financial Planning & Analysis Analyst

Overview

To contribute to the formulation of Navy Federal's strategy by planning and conducting the annual financial planning (AFP, quarterly forecast, and midyear update processes). Work with business units to collect requirements and develop complex finance models, reports, and other solutions which align with the strategy for EPM systems at Navy Federal.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with NFCU Annual Financial Plan (AFP), Quarterly Forecast, Midyear update, and Monthly Financial Review (MFR) processes.
  • Leads the design, analysis, and preparation of complex customized reports that influence senior management decisions regarding prioritizing the organization's financial resources
  • Establishes procedures to ensure accurate and complete compilation of AFP submittals
  • Serves as subject matter expert for cost-benefit analysis, fiscal allocation, and budget preparation; analyzes and recommends reporting process improvement to management
  • Reviews consolidated summaries of AFP submissions for completeness, accuracy and compliance with budget directives
  • Directs the preparation of AFP review materials for senior management
  • Analyzes and studies financial data synthesized from the AFP system and other information sources for executing current budgets and estimating future financial needs
  • Conducts cost studies by analyzing internal data and reviewing for reasonableness and accuracy; recommends proposals for implementation
  • Oversees the preparation of variance analyses, monitors the implementation of budget revisions, and responds to information and analysis requests from senior management
  • Responsible for supporting the production, analysis, and dissemination of monthly financial management information for Navy Federal
  • Identifies opportunities for enhanced efficiencies and potential gaps and/or problems related to generating revenue and suggests corrective alternatives
  • Serves as liaison between Corporate and Business Unit Finance during the creation of the Annual Financial Plan, Quarterly forecast, Mid-Year, and MFR processes along with coordinating responses to ad hoc inquiries.
  • Interpret and analyze business requirements and work with technical team to develop driver-based models, reports, web forms, etc.
  • Assists with testing, and implementation of new planning applications, enhancements, and modifications
  • Participate in cross-departmental project teams
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Business Administration, or the equivalent combination of training, education, and experience
  • Experience with Oracle EPM Suite of applications like Hyperion (Planning, Essbase, Smart View, and Predictive Planning)
  • Power BI and Tableau experience a plus
  • Expert knowledge of data querying, reporting, forecasting, analysis and operations research, including statistical methods and modeling
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Expert skill communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Extensive experience in working with all levels of staff, management, stakeholders, vendors
  • Advanced skill interacting with staff, management, vendors, members diplomatically & tactfully
  • Expert organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Expert research, analytical, and problem solving skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field such as Finance, Business Administration, or Accounting
  • Experience with developing management reporting, analytics, and dashboarding
  • Proficient and experience with Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience in credit union financials and/or NCUA regulations
  • Working knowledge of Navy Federal's functions, philosophy, operations and organizational objectives

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30AM - 5:00PM
