Overview

This role is for an exciting opportunity to drive change and transformation for Payment's Modernization at Navy Federal Credit Union. You would be part of a team that is working on providing modern payments experiences to Navy Federal Credit Union Members and Member Support Representatives. The team's goal is to provide payment solutions that are unified, secure, scalable, automated, orchestrated, API and/or event driven. We are seeking a Principal Engineer to help design and deliver modernization of payments infrastructure and payment products including ACH, Wires, Cashier's Checks, Western Union.

Principal Engineer will play pivotal role in the implementation of a secure, scalable, cloud-native payment processing and orchestration platform. Principal will serve as a subject matter expert in cloud technologies with experience in payment products. The engineer in this role will hands on develop products and collaborate with and mentor other developer engineers.

This role requires an architectural and detailed of implementation knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud or similar cloud technologies including cloud networking, architecture, along with understanding of DevSecOPs and Agile product delivery model. Principal will provide recommendations and best practices on real-time and cloud-native integrations, scalability, security, and reliability. This role requires strong technical leadership and close collaboration Technical Product Owner, senior engineers, business stakeholders, vendors, and various internal teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter expertise and technical leadership in solution design, architecture, and strategies involved in modernization and migration of on-premises workloads to Azure cloud.
  • Provide leadership in building a unified payment orchestration platform along with maintenance of current payment platform.
  • Provide recommendation on Software as a Service (SaaS) integrations including best practices for security, scalability, and provide recommendations for cloud storage and reporting.
  • Drive adoption of continuous integration and agile delivery practices.
  • Partner with various internal stakeholders and vendors to deliver payment modernization initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Extensive experience with Java, Spring Framework, and Hibernate.
  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Angular, React.js, Node.js).
  • Extensive experience with DevOps and Continuous Integration & Delivery practices and tools.
  • Significant experience with object-oriented programming languages with specific emphasis on Java.
  • Extensive experience with web service, Spring Boot microservice, API development including REST and SOAP architecture patterns.
  • Experience with relational and non-relational database platforms.
  • Significant experience working as a principal or staff engineer at large multi-function organization, preferably at a large financial service organization.
  • Significant experience with private, public and hybrid cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud, etc.), preferably Azure Cloud.
  • Significant experience with API Driven, Domain Driven, and Event Driven architectures.
  • Significant experience with Kubernetes, Event Hub, Service Bus, and API Gateways.
  • Significant experience with big data technologies, Azure Data services, Azure Data Lakes, analytics, and reporting.
  • Significant experience in with Software as a Service (SaaS), building and managing common platforms (e.g., Service Now, Pega, Share point Online, Salesforce, etc.).
  • Significant experience in cloud migration and engineering cloud centric environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, HTTP, etc.) and standard network architectures; preferably Azure Networking, Express Route, vNets, subnets, private endpoints, application gateway, load balancer and firewall.
  • Advanced knowledge of discipline engineering principles, practices, and theories, and methods to identify and solve the highest complex problems and perform sophisticated analyses.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of the end-to-end IT process, including architecture, design & engineering, implementation, and operations.

Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of banking/financial industry trends, products, and services.
  • Advanced knowledge of payment products including ACH, Wires, and Core Banking.
  • Advanced knowledge of Navy Federal products, services, programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
