Manager, Real Estate Lending Analytics

Overview

To manage, organize, direct and control business intelligence and data functions for Real Estate Lending (REL) Reporting & Analytics Section. Manage the production and delivery of business intelligence in the form of dashboards, reports and analytics to senior management. Ensure adherence to servicing goals, objectives, and branch direction. Provide operational oversight in leading the development and implementation of solutions and analyses that align with strategic business initiatives. Plan and complete data analyses and reporting to support strategic goals for Real Estate Lending. Serve as subject matter expert related to business functions, systems and data needs for Real Estate Lending. Partner with management and other business units to determine priorities, optimize processes and implement strategies to drive the business to meet their goals. Oversee and perform complex/difficult tasks with considerable scope and significant impact.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the development of complex actionable analytics for Mortgage & Equity Originations, Servicing & Support and Underwriting Business Units
  • Play a critical role on executive steering committees to discuss and make critical decisions regarding policies and procedures as well as operational changes within Real Estate Lending
  • Direct, generate, and clarify decisions, recommendations and/or solutions to optimize business efficiencies through data collection, manipulation and analysis
  • Collaborate with business partners to effectively define performance metrics (KPIs) that provide insight on key trends impacting business performance
  • Determine, design, and develop monitoring tools, models, and dashboards capable of dissecting and correlating data
  • Collaborate with senior executive leadership to provide key analysis and data to make decisions
  • Analyze effectiveness of metrics and modeling used in the decision making process for the REL business units, including but not limited to risk mitigation
  • Build and maintain relationships with team members, management, senior leadership, key stakeholders and external contacts vendors
  • Manage data mining, data integrity, and data visualization initiatives aimed at optimizing business processes, strategic planning, and tactical decision making
  • Lead teams and groups for projects/initiatives within Real Estate Lending or across the organization
  • Anticipate internal/external business problems/challenges; recommend and help implement process, product or service enhancements
  • Lead and collaborate with key partners in development and delivery of solutions
  • Oversee and optimize methodologies, improve services and products, and estimate return on investments, revenue, and potential growth models
  • Partner with key stakeholders to develop short and long-term goals and objectives, initiatives, actions plans, and cost versus benefit analyses to estimate and mitigate risk and forecast various profit/loss scenarios; provide conclusions and recommendations
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of department automated systems and business processes, markets, the financial services industry (e.g., NCUA, RESPA, CPB), security (e.g., BSA, AML), legal issues and regulatory changes, and Navy Federal business strategies
  • Provide forward thinking technical expertise in current and new technologies, trends and practices regarding data visualizations and business intelligence tools
  • Manage direction of operations; ensure targets, service level agreements and objective are me
  • Design/develop monitoring tools, models, dashboards and/or reports to track business scenarios; determine scope and methodology to meet business requirements
  • Interpret results of analysis, present recommendations, alternatives and implications projects from inception through implementation
  • Identify areas of improvement; determine solutions; implement enhancements/changes to improve operations, standards and results
  • Lead the annual financial plan process for Real Estate Lending working with key stakeholders by providing forecasting, capacity planning and insights to aide in the budget process.
  • Monitor ad hoc and required industry and regulatory reports including audit inquires in compliance with internal and external regulations
  • Serve on teams and task groups for projects/initiatives within the business unit &/or across the organization
  • Represent Navy Federal at industry forums and panels to gain market intelligence and to discuss best practices in financial modeling, analytics and business intelligence tools
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of data querying, reporting, forecasting, analysis and operations research, including statistical methods and modeling
  • Advanced experience with business intelligence technologies such as Tableau, Business Objects, Cognos, SAS & SSRS
  • Advanced experience demonstrating thought leadership, initiative-taking, decision making and creatively solving business problems
  • Significant experience in managing multiple priorities independently and/or in team environment to achieve goals
  • Significant experience in supervising and leading employees.
  • Significant experience in the financial industry and good understanding of operational and regulatory risks and controls
  • Significant experience in the application of statistical methods, mathematical techniques, forecasting, cost-benefit analysis and related analytical tools
  • Significant knowledge of financial institution and lending practices, principles and regulations
  • Significant knowledge of banking/financial industry trends, products and services
  • Significant experience in SQL, VBA, R, SAS, and SPSS database languages
  • Advanced skill analyzing statistics and reports to determine business performance and trends.
  • Advanced skills presenting findings, conclusions and recommendations clearly and concisely
  • Advanced skill maintaining accuracy with attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
  • Advanced skill building relationships through rapport, trust diplomacy and tact
  • Advanced analytical thinking skills to include summarizing information and clearly identifying key elements, patterns, results or relationships
  • Advanced skill using innovative thinking to solve problems and facilitate the decision making process
  • Advanced skill to influence, negotiate and persuade to reach agreeable exchange and positive outcomes
  • Advanced skill communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Advanced skill resolving conflicting requests and meeting changing requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Mathematics, Statistics or related field or the equivalent combination of training, education, and experience

Desired Qualification(s)

  • Significant knowledge of Navy Federal products, services, programs, policies and procedures
  • Significant knowledge of Federal, NCUA and NAFCU rules, regulations, and legislation which govern the functions of Real Estate Lending
  • Advanced knowledge with real estate specific software applications
  • Advanced skill analyzing and interpreting data using statistical methods
  • Master's Degree in Business, Management, Statistics, Mathematics or equivalent combination of training, education and experience
  • Strong background in AI, machine learning, and statistical modeling
