Graphic Design Strategist

Overview

To provide creative design strategy and leadership driving visual content creation for the most complex and impactful communications campaigns supporting Navy Federal's strategic goals. Partner with communications teams and apply expert level knowledge to lead assignments that are complex in nature and require judgement to resolve or make recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead visual design strategy for critical efforts in partnership with communications teams/management and project stakeholders
  • Develop custom visual solutions and serve as a subject matter expert on design programs, principles, tools, techniques, and methodologies
  • Guide the creation of visually compelling graphics from conception to finalization for communication products and services including online, print, multimedia, presentation, display and other interactive collateral
  • Lead strategic/conceptual development meetings with project stakeholders to determine project requirements, objectives and creative direction
  • Conceptualize and develop strong, persuasive ideas that address project goals; work closely with clients as a trusted advisor to develop materials and comply with branding, trademark and other company and industry standards
  • Serve as creative resource and point of contact for management on design and branding standards, vendor selection and production methods and timelines
  • Develop and present creative strategies and concepts to management for complex and/or extended communication campaigns
  • Lead and participate in cross-departmental project teams to enhance and develop products/services and proactively identify opportunities to create value
  • Compile reports and/or project performance statistics and provide recommendations
  • Identify emerging trends and incubate ideas to drive and orchestrate program transformation, projects, processes, practices and communication tools in alignment with Navy Federal goals and capabilities
  • Serve as mentor/trainer and provide guidance and assistance to team members
  • Assist with on boarding and training of new team members
  • Act as supervisor/manager in the incumbent's absence
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience using design programs and creating print and online collateral for communication campaigns
  • Expert knowledge of design principles, development standards, techniques, tools and methodologies and ability to apply them
  • Expert knowledge of design fundamentals such as color theory, typography and composition
  • Extensive experience working with interactive design, visual design and industry standards
  • Extensive experience applying new programs and technologies to design communication campaigns
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Expert skill exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions
  • Expert skill exercising professionalism, composure under pressure, and flexibility
  • Ability to compile, organize and present information clearly and concisely
  • Expert verbal and written communication skills
  • Expert database and presentation software skills
  • Extensive experience in working on cross-functional, multi-dimensional teams and projects
  • Extensive experience working with all levels of staff, management, stakeholders, vendors
  • Extensive experience managing multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment to achieve goals
  • Advanced organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Expert research, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Expert skill exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions
  • Significant experience in leading, guiding and mentoring others
  • Experience with motion graphics and multimedia
  • Advanced knowledge of Navy Federal's functions, philosophy, operations and organizational objectives
  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design or related field, or the equivalent combination of experience, education and training

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM
