ETS Principal Engineer - Cloud Infrastructure Engineer (Azure)

Overview

This role will function as a Principal Engineer for Cloud Infrastructure Team.

Candidates filling the role will be responsible for design, development and deployment of Azure -based solutions. Candidate will combine strong leaderships skills with hands-on experience in architecting and implementing infrastructure automation to provision, maintain, secure and optimize solution based on Azure Platform. Candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure cloud infrastructure meets business objectives, drive best practices, support business application. The role requires deep and broad engineering experience with Microsoft Azure technologies; specifically, deep technical expertise in Azure Infrastructure as Code modules (Bicep); Azure DevOps Repos and Pipelines; Azure Platform as a Service (PaaS); Azure Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS); and supporting technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership in architecture discipline & development on Azure Platform
  • Ensure the security and integrity of system and product solutions
  • Perform engineering tasks/assignments in support of business needs
  • Lead, guide and mentor Junior staff
  • Apply engineering principles to the design and enhancement of systems
  • Anticipate and adjust for potential impact of upcoming changes
  • Document new system components, or modifications to existing components
  • Full life-cycle project management
  • Perform research, procurement, deployment and configuration of systems
  • Present clear, organized & concise information to audiences to enable business decisions
  • Provide input and make budgetary recommendations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Participate in On-call Rotation (as required) for emergency technical support and planned maintenance activities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Security, or related field, or the equivalent education, training, and experience
  • Extensive Hands-on experience supporting the operations, maintenance and administration of Azure Platform infrastructure
  • Excellent Communication and interpersonal skills- including negotiations, facilitation and consensus building skills, ability to influence and persuade without direct control
  • Technical lead for a team of Senior/Junior Cloud Engineers to design, develop and deliver IT solutions (Azure)
  • Advanced expertise in Infrastructure as Code principles (IaC) using Bicep/Terraform, and engineering IaC deployments via Azure DevOps including modules, Pipelines, and Repos
  • Advanced experience in scripting with Windows PowerShell/Terraform/Bicep to automate, migrate, patch and upgrade cloud infrastructure
  • Expertise in engineering Azure Platform as a Service (Azure PaaS) including but not limited to:
    • Storage Accounts, Azure Recovery Services Vaults, Functions, Logic Apps, Web Apps, Azure SQL, Azure Active Directory, Application Insights, Virtual Networks, Application Gateway, Load Balancers, Azure Machine Configuration (Guest Configuration), OMS, State Configuration (Azure DSC)
  • Compute services - Design, implementation, documentation, and support of infrastructure, virtual machines and serverless compute services, platform, storage, backup, configuration management, and patching
  • Understanding of cloud Security best practices and compliance standards
  • Experience working with cloud deployments (Scaling, resiliency, load balancing) and solid understanding of service monitoring, KPI, SLA and disaster recovery
  • Knowledge of and adherence to change control standards and procedures, problem resolution, and troubleshooting techniques
  • Develop engineering plans which improve the resiliency of infrastructure services to meet the SLA (e.g. 99.99) of application hosted on cloud

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior experience working in a financial organization is a plus
  • AZ-305 - Designing Microsoft Azure Infrastructure Solutions
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional
