Overview

As a Design Project Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in overseeing and coordinating projects from conception to completion. You'll collaborate closely with architects, engineers, clients, and contractors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a deep understanding of architectural design principles. You'll lead the design and implementation of innovative and member-centric interiors for our branch locations. You'll ensure our branch spaces reflect our brand identity, enhance member experience, and optimize operational efficiency. You'll provide full lifecycle project management in design, renovation, and quality assurance of all branch offices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of design concepts that align with Navy Federal's brand identity, values, and member experience goals. Work closely with design teams and stakeholders to translate vision into actionable design plans
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to optimize branch layouts for customer flow, employee productivity, and operational efficiency. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accessibility standards
  • Source and specify furniture, fixtures, finishes, and equipment (FF&E) that meet design specifications, budget constraints, and durability requirements. Evaluate vendor proposals and negotiate contracts to secure the best value for Navy Federal
  • Integrate brand elements, signage, and graphics into interior design solutions to reinforce brand identity and messaging. Collaborate with marketing and branding teams to ensure consistency across all touchpoints
  • Identify potential risks and issues that may impact project delivery. Develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans to address unforeseen challenges
  • Lead and motivate project teams, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure team members are aligned with project objectives and deliverables. Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture
  • Ensure all project deliverables meet our quality standards and comply with relevant regulations and building codes. Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor progress and address any quality concerns.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status, milestones, and budgetary considerations. Facilitate decision-making and resolve conflicts as needed to keep projects on track
  • Conduct assessment of existing branches; determine operational and aesthetic deficiencies
  • Design and develop technical drawings of site layout and create interior design plans
  • Lead efforts to align design initiatives to Navy Federal business processes
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Travel < 50% of the time

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience managing interior design projects within the commercial real estate sector
  • Expert skill in using AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and other design software
  • Extensive experience in leading large projects/initiatives which have business risk and impact
  • Extensive experience in leading, guiding, and mentoring others
  • Extensive experience in managing projects involving directing/facilitating the work of contractors/subcontractors
  • Extensive experience in reviewing and providing recommendations from technical documents
  • Expert knowledge of facilities management and/or interior principles and practices
  • Expert knowledge of project lifecycles and management methodologies, services, programs, policies and procedures
  • Expert organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Expert skill comprehending, using and interpreting building codes, regulations, specifications, policies/procedures
  • Expert skill developing Capital budgets to include estimating, forecasting and adjusting
  • Expert skill interpreting schedules, sketches, layouts and blueprints
  • Expert verbal and written communication skills
  • Expert word processing and spreadsheet software skills
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Interior Design, Construction, Construction Management or the equivalent combination of training, education, and experience

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM
