Tax Manager, International

The Tax Manager will be a key member of the Navan global tax team responsible for international tax matters, including managing income tax compliance for Navan international group companies, transfer pricing and international tax planning and strategy initiatives.  The individual will work closely with the Finance and accounting teams and with external tax advisors to support the growth and development of the business.  This role will be based in London and will report to the Tax Director in London, while also assisting the Senior Tax Manager based in San Francisco. 

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of UK and international corporate income tax concepts, have great analytical and organization skills, the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines, and have excellent communication skills to build strong working relationships both internally and externally with advisors across the globe.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage/review international entities’ income tax filing workpaper and documents prepared by external tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate filings in the UK and worldwide
  • Coordinate and track international entities’ income tax assessments, payments, and related processes
  • Assist with review of local GAAP to UK/US GAAP bridge for international entities
  • Prepare/review international entities’ return to provision true up 
  • Support with the documentation and review of SOX internal controls
  • Oversee and lead all aspects of income tax audits of international entities
  • Support international tax planning and strategy initiatives
  • Ad hoc business and project support covering various tax-related issues
  • Review and advise on business contracts as they pertain to tax
  • Support transfer pricing calculations, reporting, and compliance 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting (chartered accountant is a plus)
  • 6+ years corporate tax experience (global tax exposure preferred)
  • Working knowledge of UK GAAP (US GAAP knowledge would be advantageous)
  • Strong organizational and communications skills with ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage workload to meet strict and tight deadlines
  • Flexible to work across multiple time-zones
  • A track record of developing and improving systems and processes
  • Advanced Excel (vlookups, pivot tables etc.)
