Navan is looking to expand our Payroll team in India! This is a unique opportunity for a motivated individual to join and grow within our high-performing team as the first Payroll member in India. We’re looking for someone who can troubleshoot and handle special requests efficiently. You will partner closely with our EMEA/APAC Payroll team based in Berlin and our People Team to accommodate the needs of our rapidly growing workforce. 

The ideal candidate should thrive in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment and be able to communicate effectively, multitask and prioritize work, and demonstrate accountability. You’d play a key role in assisting the day-to-day operations of the Payroll department.

Indian Payroll Management:

  • Take ownership of the Indian payroll process, working closely with our outsourced payroll vendor.
  • Gather, prepare, and validate monthly payroll input.
  • Review payroll reports for accuracy, identifying discrepancies and coordinating corrections with the vendor.
  • Liaise with the finance team to ensure on-time salary payments.
  • Oversee post-payroll processes, including providing payroll journals to the GL team.

Global Payroll Support:

  • Assist in managing payroll processes for other global entities in the EMEA/APAC region.
  • Collaborate with the payroll team to optimize processes, documentation, and compliance.
  • Support the implementation of new payroll systems and solutions to improve operational efficiency.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:

  • Work closely with the People team to align payroll practices with HR policies and employee records.
  • Build strong relationships with the finance, GL, and tax teams to ensure smooth end-to-end payroll processes.
  • Address employee queries related to payroll in a timely and professional manner.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 3-5 years proven experience as a payroll coordinator or administrative role
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft and Google products
  • Ability to perform payroll calculations
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excel experience is a must 
  • Experience in Workday is a must 
  • Desire to learn and grow
  • Knowledge of global payroll processes and compliance regulations in EMEA/APAC regions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a global team.
