As a Senior Consultant, you'll be a top level contributor, maturing and deploying Lean practices across the enterprise. Your primary responsibility will be to design and execute enterprise systems to support Lean deployment and/or maturity. This may include direct leadership and business case management for given Lean deployments or assessments, and/or execution of maturity systems including training, assessment, performance management and other techniques.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contributes significantly to the ongoing development and refinement of the enterprise Lean operating model. Designs and develops models, practices and procedures to employ across the enterprise. Responsible for consistency and continuity of Lean practices across the enterprise.

  • Provides expert consultation and training to business partners, executives and other sponsors, less experienced team members and associates at all levels on the use of Lean techniques, tools and methods. Prepares education materials and presentations to increase awareness and effectiveness and market BTO Lean practices across the organization.

  • Plans and implements Lean deployment for assigned business areas, including business case development, business partner resource strategy, objective setting, project plan, sustainability strategy and day-to-day management of the deployment.

  • Directs, when needed, day-to-day activities of assigned Lean deployment working team, including dedicated business partners, team members and direct management of third-party contract partners

  • Designs and may execute systems to facilitate the deployment and maturity of a Lean operating model to enable continuous improvement, realizing and sustaining multi-faceted benefits.

  • Acts as the highest level contributor to analysis, problem solving and execution of complex organizational problems as prioritized in the deployment and maturity of the enterprise Lean operating model.

  • Manages collaborative relationships with vendors, partners and suppliers. May require integration of process improvements into supplier’s products in order to support overall goals.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to the Associate Vice President; May have opportunity to manage a team of professionals or lead project or virtual teams.

Typical Skills and Experience:

Education: Undergraduate degree in engineering or business; graduate degree in related areas preferred.

License/Certification/Designation: Master Black Belt/Lean Sensei strongly preferred. Product-related technical insurance course work (CPCU, CPU, LOMA) preferred.

Experience: Typically, eight or more years of relevant experience in Lean and/or continuous improvement leadership. Ability to demonstrate significant experience leading multiple enterprise scope projects to successful completion

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Maintains and comprehends business/systems process operations or redesign techniques, methods and tools. Maintains current understanding of technological, societal and environmental trends to support process design and operations to improve performance and financial services industry, focusing on the Nationwide enterprise and its key competitors.

Ability to understand the business needs and meet them there to deliver results. Ability to synthesize trends and opportunities across Nationwide and propose innovative ways for the BTO to add value sponsor/partner management - independently addresses challenges while strengthening the working relationship. Viewed by executive leaders as a trusted leader with vision. Challenges their thinking and moves them to try new approaches and/or change behavior. Proactively coaches for development and identifies potential talent. Projects competence and confidence at all levels of the organization, in meetings, presentations or conversations, even when confronted with unplanned challenges, questions or opportunities

Working Conditions: Normal office environment; extended and/or non standard work hours as needed; up to 40% travel.
