As a Specialist, you'll be the primary sales relationship owner for sales agencies that want to re-engage with Nationwide or retain their current Personal and/or Farm business. You'll manage and coordinate sales functions for PL, Farm and Life Products, with targeted agencies and collaborate with the leadership team as needed on compliance, revenue, distribution, market planning, reporting and budgets. And it will be important to build and maintain positive relationships with business partners and serve as a liaison across other sales teams.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for day-to-day multi-line sales management of agencies in maintenance life cycle that controls profitable premium. On an annual basis, works with local leaders to establish goals by role. Maintains and updates agency alignment assignment by sales role.
Owns the agency relationship and is the primary sales contact between the agency and Nationwide, including management and coordination of agency communications, newsletters, marketing initiatives, product changes, rates, etc., as well as reporting and any other relevant information necessary for supporting the agency. Communicates exclusively in a virtual manner, using email, virtual meeting software, etc.
Monitors and analyzes book mix, size, retention, profit and recommends appropriate action if profit declines. Promotes self-service activities with assigned agencies to increase utilization.
Supports agencies by managing agency-initiated assistance such as closing unnecessary agency codes, tracking claims and underwriting issues, following up on requests, etc.
Works proactively and collaboratively with Underwriting, Services and Claims professionals on issue resolution, such as billing delays, processing errors, etc., and supports general problem-solving for a variety of other agent concerns.
Manages items requiring extra attention such as underwriting disputes or legal/contract issues as primary point of contact; advances to leadership for review and resolution as appropriate.
Provides agent support around quote creations and systems support.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to Manager; individual contributor role.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate degree in business administration, insurance, risk management, economics or finance preferred.
License/Certification/Designation: Pursuit of technical insurance designations such as CPCU, CLU or equivalent insurance education preferred.
Experience: Typically, two years of experience in insurance, underwriting, sales or services preferred.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Confirmed knowledge of sales programs, policies and processes relevant to the management of an independent agency distribution system. Requires solid understanding of general management practices and organizational structure. Strong organizational and administrative skills; interpersonal, leadership and relationship skills; analytical and project management skills. Requires solid understanding of insurance company operations including technology, financial analysis, and quality/training initiatives. Demonstrated decision-making skills, including the ability to recognize, analyze and improve operational performance, financial performance. Can effectively manage ambiguity. Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with all levels of internal and external contacts, resolution and presentation skills.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, proficiencies and experiences may take precedence.
