As a Nurse, you'll provide operational and consultative support throughout the enterprise to associates' occupational health and well-being. You'll have opportunities to provide health education and promotion, disease management consultation, safety consultation, clinical services, ergonomic support and training, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) consultation and modified duty work requests. We'll count on you to help create and implement location-specific interventions designed to mitigate the health risks, too.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Provides on-site clinical assessment and treatment of associate illness/injuries, as well as health education/disease management consultation.
Supports the development and execution of health and productivity initiatives by creating and implementing location-specific care plans to educate associates and mitigate the health risks of the population. This work includes planning and participating in educational events and meetings, health fairs, presentations, team meetings and partnerships/recruitment with local health teams.
Conducts ergonomic assessments and makes recommendations to ensure safe and comfortable work environments and adherence to regulations, including ADA. May include evaluating office workstations, fleet vehicles and technology needs. Ensures interventions are successful.
Advises leaders on health-related issues that may affect associate performance and legal and regulatory compliance. Handles return to work modification requests involving medical needs.
Documents workers’ compensation claims reports and facilitates non-disability return to work.
Provides leave management and accommodation administration support in areas related to STD (short term disability), LTD (Long Term disability), FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act), ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) and WC (Workers' Compensation) in conjunction with third party administrators.
Adheres to occupational health standards of practice and state nursing laws and maintains and safeguards confidentiality of all associate health information.
Presents on various health and wellbeing topics
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports Occupational Health Manager. This is an individual contributor role.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Diploma or degree in nursing; graduate coursework preferred.
License/Certification/Designation: Registered nurse in state of clinical practice. Certification in occupational health or rehabilitation preferred. CPR and AED certification required.
Experience: Typically, five or more years of demonstrated experience in health-related field such as emergency, critical care or occupational health preferred.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Proven advanced knowledge of theory and practice in nursing-related fields of study and working knowledge of other health and safety-related fields. Strong medical background with emphasis on ability to evaluate medical disabilities and establish standards for effective plans in rehabilitation services. Technical/functional background in emergency/critical care or case management/rehabilitation. General corporate administrative practices and policies with an emphasis on handling confidential medical issues. Current knowledge of governmental regulations and community health principles. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Highly approachable with strong customer service skills. Demonstrates integrity and trust to gain positive outcomes and effective working relationships with customers. Possesses functional and technical skills to enable independent nursing judgments. Time management and organization skills to handle multiple tasks, set priorities and work with multiple systems. Ability to find solutions and solve problems. Ability to perform first aid, CPR and administer AED.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
