Job Description Summary
Leads activities, functions and staff associated with the design, development, implementation and administration of assigned enterprise risk management processes and related initiatives (risk oversight, risk reporting, risk training and communications, risk modeling, and department application, etc. ). Is a subject matter expert for enterprise risk management processes and related initiatives.
Job Description
RELATIONSHIP: Reports to Sr. Consultant, AVP, or SVP Enterprise Risk Management. Typically does not have direct reports but may manage several Analysts and Specialists on special projects/studies. May be responsible for matrix reporting relationships or virtual teams.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Enterprise risk management consultants will lead or support in the planning, design, development, implementation, and administration of assigned enterprise risk management processes and related initiatives. Incumbent¿s role on specific processes and initiatives will be determined by the needs of the department and the skill set of the incumbent. For this reason, incumbents may be assigned work in any or all of the following areas:
General:
1. Assists in the development, implementation, and administration of the enterprise risk governance processes, including defining levels of authority, roles, and responsibilities, risk policies, coordinating enterprise risk management efforts with internal partners, and maintaining and driving risk oversight structure (committees, councils, etc.).
2. Researches and analyzes enterprise risk management issues and recommends solutions to management
3. Provides consultation services to management on complex risk management policies, practices, and procedures.
Metrics/Modeling:
1. Leads the development, implementation, and maintenance of risk information and reporting, including defining standard enterprise risk metrics/measures for all significant risks, develop reporting and analysis standards and requirements, and developing risk correlation and aggregation processes and analysis to provide an enterprise portfolio view of risk.
2. Reviews and analyzes financial data reports and devises financial, risk, and capital models for the enterprise.
3. May support the development, implementation, and maintenance of risk models for all significant enterprise risks.
Other:
1. Leads the development, implementation, and maintenance of the department's applications.
2. Leads the development, implementation, and maintenance of the department's training and communication initiatives, including preparing and delivering enterprise risk management training, intranet site content development, newsletters, conferences, etc.
3. Designs and executes risk assessments on enterprise-level risks.
4. Revises and maintains risk classification framework.
5. Performs other related duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Undergraduate studies in Finance, Accounting, statistics or related discipline preferred. Graduate level studies with advanced highly desirable.
Designations: CFA a plus.
Experience: Typically eight or more years related work experience in Insurance and/or Financial Services industry.
Knowledge: Proven knowledge in risk management and the insurance industry. Advanced analytical skills to resolve the most complex risk management problems. Ability to manage all activities associated with the development and implementation of enterprise risk management processes
Skills/Competencies: Advanced communication skills for verbal and written contact with Finance and Business Unit leadership; presentation skills. project management concepts and techniques. Ability to analyze financial and statistical data and make recommendations for enterprise risk management initiatives. Ability to operate a personal computer with various financial and business software applications.
