Responsibilities:

Develop, engineer, and implement occupational safety and health policies and programs to meet applicable laws, regulations, and standards. Required to be knowledgeable in the applicable OSH programs as to provide Agency organizations the information, education, and oversight to effectively implement the required programs and minimize risk in the work place.

FULL PERFORMANCE

Entry is with a Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree plus 1 year of relevant experience.

Degree must be in an Occupational Safety and Health-related field (for example, Occupational Safety and Health, Safety Management, Safety Science, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene); however, a degree in any field is acceptable if the applicant holds any of the following credentials: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Graduate Safety Professional (GSP), Occupational Hygiene & Safety Technician (OHST), Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).

Relevant experience must be in a safety-related field (for example, occupational safety and health, safety management, safety science, safety engineering, industrial hygiene).

Competencies:

Conduct interviews within the context of an inspection, audit, evaluation, or investigation.
Gather evidence or information related to on-going audits, inspections, evaluations, or investigations.
Perform audits, inspections, evaluations, or investigations in accordance with applicable regulations and/or policies, and make appropriate recommendations for improvement.
Report results and findings from assessments, investigations, inspections, audits, or evaluations to appropriate parties.
Conduct risk assessments on affiliates, facilities, operations, programs, or systems.
Enforce federal and state laws and applicable regulations and/or policies.
Respond to and investigate incidents.
Inspect and monitor facilities for compliance with applicable codes, laws, regulations, and/or policies.
Inspect and monitor the condition of facilities and building structures (for example, walls, doors, ceilings).
Conduct and/or support environmental, safety, health, or fire prevention inspections, investigations, or reviews.
Evaluate workplace for threats or hazards.
Identify risks and potential occupational health hazards associated with agents, products and processes by studying environments, tasks and people.
Design, select, and implement options to eliminate or mitigate occupational health hazard exposures.
Conduct accident investigations and/or develop strategies to minimize accidents.
Determine the extent, magnitude and consequences of exposure to health hazards.
Establish and assess the effectiveness of control programs or techniques designed to eliminate or mitigate occupational health hazard exposures.
Review facility plans with regard to applicable codes, laws, and regulations.
Participate in needs assessments for training and development.
Conduct and/or support industrial hygiene field inspections, training, data collection, and sampling.
Confer with and/or educate clients, customers, or stakeholders on matters of health and safety.
Lead or support health risk assessments.
Manage and follow up on information resulting from health risk assessments for tracking and trending of recognized hazards.
Climb ladders, scaffolding, towers, catwalks, etc.
Stand, walk, or kneel for long periods.
Design and implement safety and environmental risk mitigation programs, SOPs, and controls.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule:

Pay: Salary offers are based on candidates' education level and years of experience relevant to the position and also take into account information provided by the hiring manager/organization regarding the work level for the position.

Salary Range: $82,764 - $128,956 (Full Performance)
Salary range varies by work level and relevant experience to the position.

On the job training, internal NSA courses, and external training will be made available based on the need and experience of the selectee.

Work Schedule: This is a full-time position, Monday - Friday, with basic 8hr/day work requirement between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. (flexible).
