Monitor day to day risk controls related to the franchise, regulatory and operations of the Research business unit. Design, align, implement and improve the Research risk management and supervisory framework. Maintain the Risk team's established policies and procedures, investigate and escalate exceptions to policies, and assist with their resolution and incident reporting. Manage risk in real time through product and transaction expertise, independent committee review, challenge and governance. Support the ongoing development of a thematic incident risk assessment program. Lead projects related to supervisory platform (Supervisory Dashboard), metrics and reporting systems (Fahrenheit and DeckAid), monitoring systems (Actimize). Partake on the information security program acting as Business Unit Information Security Officer. Coordinate and participate in internal and regulatory audits and examinations, as well as coordinate and implement issues and action plans. Work with global colleagues in Research and across the Institutional Securities Group to manage the successful implementation of a risk management and supervisory framework, as well as resolution of complex risk incidents and escalations, including root causes analysis of the issue, establishing the right escalation path and governance. Coordinate with the Legal and Compliance coverage across business lines with respect to Research matters. Monitor regulatory developments and trends, and take action to ensure the business unit complies with new or amended regulations. Implement department ideas and initiatives through operational analysis, change management, and documentation with a focus on continuous improvement and global standardization. Design and deliver applicable training for business unit and business control unit personnel.

Salary: Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $195,000 and $250,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
Requirements:
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, Finance, Business, or other related fields and five (5) years of experience in the position offered or five (5) years as a Compliance Vice President, Compliance Director, Compliance Manager, or related occupation in the finance field. Requires five (5) years' experience with: Legal, Compliance or Risk Management; securities markets; investment research; the Global Analyst Research Settlement; industry rules or regulations enforced by SEC (Rule 15a-6, Regulation Analyst Certification - RegAC), FINRA (Rules 2241, 2242, 1210), CFTF (Regulations 23.605 and 1.71) and Brazil Securities Commission - CVM (Rule 20); facilitating communication within and across functional groups; Requires two (2) years' experience with: Technological initiatives and automation.
