Morgan Stanley's Institutional Equity Division (IED) is a world leader in the origination, distribution and trading of equity, equity-linked and equity-derivative securities. Primary Responsibilities

Operational Risk:
  • Manage the risk and control self-assessment (RCSA), including performing key control validation.
  • Manage business process mapping and conduct policy updates.
  • Prepare governance meeting materials and monthly risk metrics.
  • Support business unit projects to create, enhance or develop procedures/protocols.
  • Assist in managing IED's operational risk management framework, including proposing processes and innovative solutions to address risk issues, risk incident collection and reporting.
  • Monitoring existing control frameworks, improving these, and designing, testing, and implementing new controls, as needed, to ensure the Firm keeps pace with the evolving regulatory environment.

Operational Resiliency:
  • Manage and maintain business continuity plans and annual testing requirements.
  • Track disaster recovery and technology recovery plans.
  • Conduct vendor runbook for critical third parties.

Technology Risk:
  • Partner with the Strat organization to remediate technology hygiene metrics.
  • Monitor and improve existing control frameworks, including the design, testing, and implementation of new controls.
  • Support adherence to Firm technology policies and procedures, including metrics compliance, hygiene requirements, policy compliance, and disaster recovery obligations.
  • Enhance periodic reporting to increase transparency to senior management.
  • Develop and implement risk-based remediation plans to prioritize critical remediation items.

Trader Mandate:
  • Investigate and resolve product reference issues.
  • Handle daily exception monitoring.

Audit / Regulatory:
  • Oversee the Division's OpenPages Issues and Action Plans, including providing effective review and challenge on remediation items, ensuring deadlines are met, and reporting status updates.
  • Liaise with senior management and other stakeholders to evaluate and respond to external and internal information requests from regulators, Audit, and Compliance.
  • Drafting Senior Management presentation material for quarterly audit and external regulator meetings.
  • Assist with the tracking and coordination of internal audit exams deliverable list to collate responses.

Essential Requirements
  • Chartered Accountant or Master's in Business Management
  • Professional with 8 - 10 years background in Compliance, Risk Management and / or Trading Support focusing on sales and trading issues.
  • Knowledge of Equities markets, understanding of applicable regulatory rules and regulations.
  • An understanding of and strong focus on the mechanics of a control environment, including escalation and risk-related issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills. Ability to work independently as well as a Team Player.
  • Effective management and leadership skills.
  • Strong project management skills. Ability to identify and escalate issues effectively and appropriately.
  • Proven ability to take ideas forward and to challenge others with integrity and maturity.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Enthusiasm to volunteer or lead planning and organizing in events held by the department and firm.
