Morgan Stanley's Securitized Product Group's European Lending team focuses on Commercial Real Estate and Secured Lending for performing and non-performing assets and loan pools within the Securitized Products Group (SPG). This is an expanding business within Fixed Income recognized for providing traditional and innovative financing techniques, helping a wide range of clients throughout Europe to execute their business strategy.

We are seeking an Analyst to join our Commercial Real Estate Lending team based in London, comprising both direct and warehouse (loan on loan) lending teams. The successful candidate will be expected to provide support to the deal team in performing transaction execution and financial analysis while working closely with other analysts and associates in the team.

What will you be doing?

An Analyst in the CRE Lending team will be expected to learn the full process of originating and executing commercial real estate finance transactions.

Key skills required:
  • Underwriting: analysis of transactions, building cash flow models and preparing briefing materials for senior stakeholders, requiring a high attention to detail and ability to manage competing demands.
  • Transaction Execution: assisting with negotiations with the sponsor on loan documentation, conducting site visits, liaising with valuation, legal and other professional firms.
  • Origination: build relationships with key sponsors & negotiating term sheets for new deals.
  • Internal Communication: communication with internal stakeholders. Confidence in presenting information in person, and ability to tailor to audience.
  • Pipeline & Workflow: Ensuring deal incomings are logged and reflected correctly in internal systems for team management & internal reporting purposes.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assist in deal screening and underwriting.
  • Cash flow modelling.
  • Conducting site visits and market research across asset classes.
  • Prepare Credit Committee and internal briefing presentations.
  • Reviewing deal documentation and due diligence items as part of transaction closings.
  • Participating in meetings with clients and external counterparties.
