The role will reside within Firm Risk Managements Risk Analytics Department, specifically the Market Risk Analytics team. The Market Risk Analytics team is responsible for the development of market risk methodology and market risk models which feed directly into the firms internal and regulatory capital calculations and risk management frameworks. The team has presence across multiple geographical locations and jurisdictions.

Firm Risk Management (FRM) supports Morgan Stanley to achieve its business goals by partnering with business units across the Firm to realize efficient risk-adjusted returns, acting as a strategic advisor to the Board and protecting the Firm from exposure to losses as a result of credit, market, liquidity, operational, model and other risks.

What will you be doing?
• Oversight of cross asset class model development, enhancement and maintenance of market risk models (VaR, Stressed VaR, IRC, CRM, RNIV, Pillar 2) to ensure ongoing appropriateness and adaptations to new regulations
• Maintain a comprehensive control environment to identify risks and control gaps in the end-to-end model development process
• Design and implement appropriate controls across the suite of regulatory and internal models, metrics and processes
• Contribution to key regulatory deliverables and programs as well as analysis and interpretation of key regulatory requirements (e.g. FRTB, PRA's SS 1/23, Trading Wind-Down / EGIM)
• Perform ongoing monitoring and evaluation of market risk models, review existing models to ensure they remain fit for purpose and make improvements where necessary
• Document models and associated developmental analysis, present results to stakeholders
• Manage, guide and train more junior members of the team

What we're looking for:
• MSc or equivalent in a quantitative subject (such as quantitative finance, statistics/mathematics, sciences or engineering)
• Strong understanding of quantitative market risk and products
• Good understanding of market risk models and how they impact regulatory capital metrics, reporting and associated controls
• Good knowledge of European and UK market risk regulations as applied to market risk models
• Demonstrable experience in delivering enhancements to risk models and processes in the context of European regulations
• Experience in setting up model development and deployment processes, including appropriate governance and controls frameworks

Skills that will help you in the role:
• Strong mathematical, analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
• The ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of stakeholders, both written and verbally
• Confidence to take ideas forward and to challenge others, where appropriate, with experience in management by influence, facilitating and gaining consensus
• Strong organizational skills with an interest in working in a fast-paced environment, often balancing multiple high priority deliverables
