An opportunity has arisen within the International Tax Operations team for a full-time Associate to join the team, to assist in the day to day processing of multiple operational tax obligations, including but not limited to Transaction Tax, Stamp Tax and Capital Gains Tax.
In order to effectively execute operational tax requirements from both a Firm and client perspective, this role will involve a number of different elements, focusing on reconciliation, risk identification and remediation, and ensuring adherence to regulatory and operational deadlines. Amongst other deliverables, the team ensure successful payment and reporting of operational tax obligations across global markets and ensure on-going compliance with new regulations as they arise.

The key responsibilities of the successful applicant will include:
- Supporting several tax reconciliation and processing functions to ensure that both Firm and Clients are accurately charged.
- Timely submission of tax documentation to custodians/tax authorities to ensure Morgan Stanley meets all transaction tax obligations in EMEA and the Americas.
- Risk management oversight to pro-actively identify risks, escalate and clearly outline resolution.
- Ensure payment and regulatory reporting provided to tax authorities is accurate and submitted within prescribed deadlines.
- Perform due diligence checks in assessing client entitlements to tax exemptions.
- Supporting the ITO Enhancement strategy to improve systemic tax processing.
- Control of processes outsourced to external vendor.

Skills desired
-Basic awareness of Operational Tax processes is beneficial but not essential
-Experience in any Operations discipline could be beneficial, and in particular experience of Settlements, Asset Services and Trade Support roles would be advantageous
-Experience in reviewing, analysing, or testing system developments and technology requirements would also be of benefit

-Ability to analyse and present data in a meaningful way, and ensure messaging is clear across various levels of the Firm.
-Ability to engage with and encourage individuals across a global team, in order to deliver a cohesive output on a number of ad hoc initiatives.
-Ability to reconcile large volumes of data from multiple sources, analyse trends, identify discrepancies and propose remediating actions.
-Ability to identify existing or potential risks, ability to escalate appropriately and ensure the necessary actions to resolve any risk issues are followed through.
-Excellent Excel/Powerpoint skills.
