MSIM's International Equity (IE) team has more than 30 years of investing in international markets and today manages more than $50 billion in assets across global and international (non US) strategies, with a strong presence in concentrated quality portfolios. The investment team is comprised of nine portfolio managers and six research analysts, and also includes a team of Portfolio Specialists who coordinate all client servicing activities and serve as primary contacts for clients, consultants and prospects for the team's investment strategies. The IE team is currently seeking a Junior Portfolio Specialist/Marketing Associate to join the team in New York.
The Junior Portfolio Specialist/Marketing Associate will support the portfolio specialist team covering the team's Americas business in developing marketing content, servicing existing clients, coordinating information requests for new client opportunities, assisting with portfolio and performance analytics, and acting as liaison with internal departments for client support and management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the gathering and explanation of data and investment process responses required in Request for Proposals (RFPs), due diligence questionnaires (DDQs) and other information requests.
- Draft accurate and timely written responses on market and portfolio performance, and portfolio positioning in response to queries from sales, clients, consultants and prospects.
- Gather, review and apply data from internal and external sources to support ongoing and ad-hoc client reporting requirements.
- Manage and support development of marketing capabilities for the team, including client commentaries, white papers, collateral, videos/audios, social media.
- Act as liaison between IE team and Sales and Marketing departments, updating and customizing marketing materials for global asset gathering opportunities and serving as resource for inquiries.
- Support senior portfolio specialists in client service for prospects, consultants and clients.
- Perform competitor analysis and market research as needed.
- Participate in portfolio specialist and broader team investment meetings
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree; distinguished and differentiated academic track record
- 0-5 years of experience in either a marketing/communications role, or a marketing, sales or communications-related role in asset/wealth management
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present complex concepts in a simple and digestible format for broad audience consumption
- Creative and organized, with an interest in marketing, communications, messaging and digital/social media engagement; experience with digital marketing and social media or genAI marketing apps, a plus
- Ability to synthesize stock and portfolio concepts for client/prospect consumption
- Team player with strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Service orientation, with the ability to multitask and resourcefulness to solve varying and complex client needs and challenges
- Strong judgment, with the ability to tackle challenges not previously encountered and the prudence to escalate issues, as appropriate, to senior team members
- Self-starter with drive to be successful and ability to manage and execute simultaneous projects and tasks without reminders
- Strong attention to detail
- Experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Teams
- Interest in financial markets and equities
- Willingness to take and pass Series 7 and 63 registration examinations within a 12-month period

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $100,000 and $125,000 per year for Associate level at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
