SUMMARY

The Public Markets Office of COO Business Control group is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual to join our NY based team working closely with the Investment Management (IM) Chief Business Control Officer/Head of New Product Approval (NPA) Governance. This role will involve providing first line supervision over certain non-financial risks (e.g., investment advisory, trading practices, transaction processing and execution) and conflicts of interest (e.g., Side by Side management) across asset classes within public markets ensuring consistent framework and adequate controls. It will also entail working closely with business franchise partners across the firm and the division on the launch of public and private new product throughout its lifecycle from initial product proposal to post execution review.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist in supporting the Public Markets business through the Office of COO across a broad range of investment strategies and products by providing:
    • First line business oversight cross-asset class and legacy entity
    • Project management for strategic initiatives/challenges
  • Ensure adequate business controls/entitlements exist over select key internal processes impacting investment teams and the division more broadly
  • Assist in driving product lifecycle governance enhancements in line with business evolution as well as dynamic Firm and regulatory standards
  • Analyze workflows to identify opportunities to increase efficiency and improve effectiveness
  • Work collaboratively with investment teams and internal functional stakeholders to investigate and resolve incidents, issues, and challenges
  • Participate in the review of internal policies to ensure accuracy, consistency and evolution alongside the business and client needs
  • Identify and align best practices from a governance perspective across the integrated MSIM entities

The role will also involve implementation and execution of cross asset class business controls, governance, and reporting priorities across public markets.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in business preferred
  • 6-7 years of relevant investment management governance experience
  • Knowledge of traditional asset management investments (fixed income, equities, derivatives)
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office 365
  • Strong analytical skills and above average attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to take a proactive approach to assigned projects and team initiatives

Wage Transparency Statement

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $110,000 and $225,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
