We're seeking someone to join our team as Vice President, candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and operating Morgan Stanley's grid compute systems for pricing and risk calculations. We provide reliable, efficient, and innovative grid computing platforms, and partner with our internal customers to use them effectively to meet their business goals.

InstitutionalSecurities_Technology

Institutional Securities Technology (IST) develops and oversees the overall technology strategy and bespoke technology solutions to drive and enable the institutional businesses and enterprise-wide functions. IST's 'clients' include Fixed Income, Equities, Commodities, Investment Banking, Research, Prime Brokerage and Global Capital Markets.

Reliability & Production Engineering (RPE)

Resiliency Engineering is a production-oriented discipline focused on improving service availability, latency, scalability, performance, and efficiency for technology products in Morgan Stanley. Our core infrastructure processes hundreds of millions of transactions and we serve assets of more than a trillion dollars daily. This role will be responsible for the design & implementation of the platform, and corresponding frameworks, application and gameday exercises, for testing critical applications at scale. • Working closely with our stakeholders and partners to design, build and operate Morgan Stanley's grid compute systems using on-premise and cloud-based infrastructure
• Lead a small team working with individuals toward achieving department goals and promote Firm culture
• Using Reliability Engineering principles to improve grid compute platform stability and efficiency

What you'll bring to the role:

Required skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Thorough knowledge of Linux with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in a Linux-based distributed systems environment
• Practical experience in IBM Spectrum Symphony
• Automation-related experience is particularly valued using scripting languages such as python, Linux shell-scripting etc.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot problems and debug to identify root cause
• Experience with Ansible, GitHub or any automation/configuration/release management tools

Desired Skills:
• ITIL Service Management experience
• Cloud technologies - Amazon Web Services, Azure or Google Cloud Platform
• Terraform
• Kubernetes
• Autosys
• Advanced Unix knowledge of Kernels, File system, and memory management
• Agile methodology experience
